Mainline Printing Improves Business with Printcafe PSI from EFI

Press release from the issuing company

FOSTER CITY, Calif. - November 4, 2003 - Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, today announced that Mainline Printing, Inc. of Topeka, Kansas, has successfully implemented the Printcafe PSI print management information system to increase business process automation and reduce costs. Mainline Printing is one of the few printers in the United States offering holographic imprinting, which accounts for about 30 percent of its business. General commercial printing makes up the remainder of the company's work, which is done on four sheet fed presses and one hybrid web-flexographic press. "When we began implementing the PSI system, it had an immediate impact on the way our company does business," said George Parker, IT Project Manager. "It really gave us an opportunity to look at all of our job processes as they were defined on a computer screen. It has helped us re-evaluate procedures that have become second-nature and see that there are better ways of doing things." Mainline Printing, which uses holographic printing for such jobs as candy box lids for Russell Stover Candies and collectible Yu-Gi-Oh! trading cards, uses multiple modules of the Printcafe PSI system, including estimating, job planning, invoicing, payables, purchase orders, inventory, and data collection. "We rely on it throughout the complete cycle," said Parker. "In our industry, estimating and job planning are so important, and so is job tracking. With PSI, the history of the orders is preserved in the system, and information is available for management. This is miles ahead of our previous estimating system." EFI's Printcafe's print management systems enable printers to lower costs, improve productivity and increase revenues. These software solutions provide tools that facilitate efficient and accurate completion of each print production job by automating purchasing, operations and financial functions within the printing plant. The PSI solution integrates estimating, order entry, scheduling, job tickets, purchasing, inventory control, job tracking, shipping and billing into a single package designed specifically for the mid-market printer.
