Duplo Provides Modular Digital Print Finishing for Offset and Digital Printers

Press release from the issuing company

November 5, 2003 -- Launched at two significant shows earlier this month (IGAS, Japan and Graph Expo, USA), the System 5000, Duplo’s most advanced bookletmaking and collating system to date, has attracted significant interest from offset and digital printers looking for high-tech end-to-end digital print finishing solutions. The exhibitions provided Duplo with a platform to demonstrate a variety of digital finishing solutions for the graphic arts market, further enhancing its global profile and demonstrating its expertise in this area. At IGAS, as well as showing the System 5000, Duplo unveiled its latest digital finishing offering, the Duetto dual-line system which incorporates two DC-10/60 collating towers and a DSF-2000 dynamic sheetfeeder. The Duetto has been designed specifically for printers making the transition from offset to digital, allowing them to incorporate colour content and variable data into their finishing solutions. Commenting on the shows, Dominic Quennell, vice president of global marketing at Duplo Corporation says: "Both exhibitions enabled us to demonstrate our products to traditional offset and digital printers. At Duplo we provide modular finishing solutions to suit both printing requirements." He continues, "Although visitor figures at IGAS were down by 33% this year, Duplo witnessed a 285% increase in sales leads compared with IGAS 1999. The show enabled us to promote a wide range of graphic arts products to a global audience and in particular, strengthen our product offering in the Asian market." "Although a smaller show, at Graph Expo, we took approximately 800 enquiries, showing a 15% increase in leads compared to last years exhibition. Most significant for us was the launch of the System 5000, the feedback we’ve had to date has been most impressive -- visitors were impressed with the machine’s ability to service both offset and digital print environments." Dominic concludes, "We’re delighted to see that in difficult economic times, although visitor levels may have decreased, the quality of sales leads has risen. We look forward to launching the System 5000 and Duetto products in Europe later this year."
