SunJet and Orafol® launch Oralite UV digital traffic signage solution

Press release from the issuing company

MIDSOMER NORTON, UK - SunJet®, the global inkjet division of Sun Chemical, is pleased to announce a range of UV traffic signage inks which, in conjunction with the Oralite traffic signage inkjet printer, Oralite retroreflective film series 5910 and Oralite clear laminate 5061, have achieved CE conformity.

The traffic signage produced using this new inkjet solution complies with the requirements of EN 12899-1:2007 Clause 4.2 concerning microprismatic materials and has been granted a European Technical Approval ETA No. 12/0478, exceeding the minimum coefficient of retroreflection for performance Class R2.

SunJet has taken advantage of developments in its leading pigment and ink chemistry to produce a dedicated six-colour set of UV inkjet inks to meet the industry standards and challenges of the retroreflective traffic signage market. Retroflective traffic signage optimises reflection of light from car headlights, with the benefit of enabling signs to be seen more clearly and from greater distances at night. Speciality inks for use in traffic signage applications must combine broad colour gamut with optimum ink transparency so as not to compromise the retroreflective qualities of the microprismatic substrate.

SunJet will be exhibiting prints from the Oralite printer demonstrating all of the dedicated colours used in European traffic signage at the Sun Chemical stand B20N in the North Hall at FESPA 2013 (ExCeL London, 25-29 June).

SunJet Global Product Manager, Rick Hulme, says: "SunJet has worked in partnership with Orafol on a vision to deliver state-of-the-art UV inkjet chemistry to the traffic signage market, broadening choice for signmakers active in this segment. Our ambition was to establish a unique solution using dedicated colours and highly lightfast pigments to meet the challenging demands of this sector. We're extremely pleased to be able to announce this as the latest addition to the SunJet product portfolio at this year's FESPA."

SunJet traffic signage inks are available together with the Oralite printer, film and laminate from Orafol.
