Danka Partners With NexPress and Heidelberg to Win City of Toronto Contract

Press release from the issuing company

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--March 25, 2004-- Danka Business Systems PLC today announced that its Canadian subsidiary, Danka Canada, Inc., has won a contract to install and service eight Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 print systems at five municipal government locations in Toronto, Canada. These systems, along with the four Toshiba e-STUDIO 810 large workgroup devices provided by Danka, will generate 70 million images per year and meet the city government's document production requirements in all five boroughs. "This exciting agreement with the municipal government of Toronto -- a vibrant city of 3 million people -- is the result of close cooperation with Heidelberg Canada and NexPress Solutions, a joint venture of Heidelberg and Eastman Kodak Company," said Danka executive Michael Popielec, President and COO of Danka International, who recently was named COO of Danka's soon-to-be-formed Americas Group. "Danka is the leading independent provider of Heidelberg-branded systems in the Americas, with the more than 600 units under contract. Our ongoing success with the Digimaster series is a tribute to the shared commitment of Danka and NexPress to provide customers with superior solutions for their document production needs." Danka's agreement with the City of Toronto also includes the installation of front-end Danka @ the Desktop(TM) software designed to streamline production by providing easy-to-use document merging and integration capabilities. Danka system engineers will connect the Heidelberg and Toshiba systems with the city government's existing network environment, and Danka field technicians will provide ongoing technical service and support. Danka's Canadian business serves customers from the Atlantic Maritimes to British Columbia, with operations in all major cities and 20,000 office and production systems under contract. On April 1, Danka Canada will become part of the company's new Americas Group, which will combine Danka operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Latin America. "Our long relationship with Danka continues to yield benefits for NexPress and our shared customers," commented NexPress Solutions Executive Vice President, Mark Weber. "Our joint solution will provide the City of Toronto with a much-needed upgrade of its outdated equipment, delivering increased productivity and expanded capability. This agreement builds on a series of Heidelberg Digimaster wins with Danka in the insurance, retail, and higher education markets."
