ProDPI Installs Xerox iGen4 Press from Fujifilm

Press release from the issuing company

New press delivers more options and increased profitability for printer and its photographer customers

Valhalla, N.Y. – ProDPI, an Englewood, Colo.-based photo lab, recently installed the Xerox  iGen4® Press from Fujifilm. The new press enables the photo lab to quickly deliver high-quality photographic products on larger media.

ProDPI is a photo lab serving professional photographers who specialize in weddings and portraits. ProDPI expanded to more than 26,000 square feet when the lab relocated to Colorado in 2010. The current facility was designed specifically for digital output from photographic, digital and inkjet technology. Its high-tech print room, sprawling finishing area, and task-specific shipping and customer service areas allow for high throughput and extreme quality.

The iGen4 Press provides breakthrough photo image quality, greater productivity, and higher profitability and was developed to serve printers that have the most demanding operations, such as high-end collateral, direct marketing, and photo specialty. The iGen4 uses patented innovative technology and the power of automation to deliver the world's most productive digital press with 25%-35% productivity gains, higher monthly volumes, and high definition image quality to capture more pages and profit.

“Our professional photography customers come to us for high-end photo albums that they sell to their clients for up to $2,000 so every single page must be absolutely perfect in terms of color and paper quality. On top of that, the turnaround demands are tight,” said Jeffrey Lazo, COO of ProDPI.

ProDPI was in need of a press that could produce larger media than its existing technology could handle and specifically sought out solutions that deliver gutter-less high-end photographic 12”x24” album books. While few technologies could match its specific requirements, the iGen4 delivered on all of the printer’s priorities: exact size specifications, color and print quality, and maintenance.

“The iGen4 was the superior solution for us among the few presses that met our criteria. We now provide our customers with a high-quality alternative to silver halide albums, giving them a different, more affordable yet still incredibly profitable price point for their clients to consider. Albums that previously took two to five weeks to produce, we now deliver in two to five days and the output color and paper quality is even better,” said Lazo.

This was all made possible through the joint effort of Fujfilm’s Imaging and Graphic Systems divisions, along with Xerox, to fully address ProDPI’s requirements and high standards for quality.

“We have been a Fujifilm customer since we started the business and we have always loved the support the company provides, and of course its superior color and quality. By working with Fujifilm and Xerox, we get the best out of our equipment,” said Lazo. “There are very few printers in our industry able to provide the 12”x24” photo books and by using the iGen4 we are setting the bar for quality on the press-printed album. The new product has been incredibly well-received by professional photographers and we look forward to spreading the word further and familiarizing more customers and prospects about this new offering.”
