Company looks to expand production of personalized marketing pieces

Itasca, IL -- Xeikon NV, an innovator in digital color printing technology, announced today that Colorfx, a Des Moines, Iowa-based print and marketing services company, has purchased and installed a Xeikon 8800 digital color press to more cost-effectively print high-volume variable data pieces for its customers.

Colorfx, which specializes in creating and executing multichannel marketing communications and direct marketing programs for its clients, plans to expand its digital print-on-demand services to include more full-color personalized pieces, such as direct mail, brochures and inserts.

"We are continually looking for ways to create more value for our clients and help them grow their business cost-effectively," said Jon Troen, president of Colorfx. "We needed a press that offered the ideal combination of productivity, flexibility and quality, and the Xeikon 8800 was head and shoulders above the competition."

First unveiled at drupa 2012, the Xeikon 8800 is Xeikon's flagship model of the 8000 series, which is designed specifically for the document and commercial printing market.

The Xeikon 8800 features high precision LED-array imaging technology, which combines true 1200 dpi resolution and 4-bit per spot color depth to deliver the finest commercial print quality on the market today. In addition, the Xeikon 8800 offers unmatched format flexibility, with a media width of 20.2 inches and unlimited length. The press prints at a top speed of 63 ft/minute and can handle monthly duty cycles of up to 10 million pages.

Colorfx mailed approximately 200 million direct mail pieces in 2012. The Xeikon 8800's cost effective, high-volume capabilities are a complement to the other digital variable and commercial printing services Colorfx offers.

"For companies such as Colorfx, it's incredibly important to be able to offer a large range of different applications to meet their customers' marketing communications needs," said Michael V. Ring, president of Xeikon America, Inc. "The Xeikon 8000 Series offers all of the functionality they need, including offset image quality, streamlined workflows, format flexibility, and efficiency in running costs."
