International Paper Announces Offering of $1 Billion of Senior Notes

STAMFORD, Conn., March 15 -- International Paper today announced that it has commenced a public offering of an aggregate of $1 billion senior notes. International Paper intends to use the proceeds from the offering to redeem all of its 8 1/8 percent notes due July 8, 2005.
