Cadmus Releases Version 2.0 of Its Rapid Inspector Image Preflighting Application

Press release from the issuing company

RICHMOND, Va., March 15 -- Cadmus Communications Corporation announced today that it has released the latest version of its image preflighting software, Rapid Inspector(TM) 2.0, for the scientific, technical, and medical (STM) journals market. Rapid Inspector enables authors to preflight their graphic files using the unique specifications of the publisher's journal. By checking graphics at the time that files are submitted for review or publication, publishers reduce the potential delays and costly rework that can be incurred if file problems are not discovered until later in the submission process. The application is made available to authors through the publishers. Rapid Inspector is simple for authors to use -- after a quick one-time application download, files are checked against the selected journal's specifications by dragging and dropping files into the application on the desktop. Files do not have to be uploaded over the Internet and results are returned within seconds. Extensive help menus provide suggestions for fixing any problems which are identified in the files. New features of Rapid Inspector 2.0 include enhanced online menus, support for additional file formats, and enhanced reporting for publishers. Rapid Inspector 2.0 is now also available for preflighting digital advertising including files submitted in the ISO Standard PDF/X-1a format. Walter Peter, senior vice president of Content Services commented, "The explosive growth in online submission systems has fundamentally changed the way the publishing industry handles content -- paper manuscript and artwork is quickly disappearing. Rapid Inspector 2.0 provides the enhanced functionality that our publishing clients need to support their author communities in the creation and production of digital content and images." In an effort to support the evolving needs of publishers, authors and advertisers, the new features of Rapid Inspector 2.0 will be immediately available to current Rapid Inspector clients at no additional charge when they go to the Rapid Inspector website. Users of Mac Classic will need to download the new Rapid Inspector 2.0 installer to receive the upgrade.
