Neenah Paper to Recognize Designers in Unshow Contest

Press release from the issuing company

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Neenah Paper will recognize some of the design industry’s best work printed on uncoated paper in the 2013 Neenah UnShow™ competition. Now in its second year, the contest is supported by HOW Magazine and invites designers and printers to submit original artwork printed on any brand of uncoated paper.

Work produced between Jan. 1, 2012, and March 12, 2013, is eligible to be submitted for any of the eight categories: annual report/sustainability report, identity, brochures, invitations/cards, posters, packaging/label, student work and miscellaneous. All entries will be posted on the contest website and the top 25 images in each category will be selected in an online voting process open to the public.

Images must be submitted electronically during the contest period from Jan. 8 to March 29, 2013. For more information, contest rules or to submit an image, visit the Neenah UnShow competition page on HOW’s website at http://www.howdesign.com/design-competitions/neenah-unshow-competition/.

Neenah selected three prestigious creative professionals – Aaron Draplin, owner of Draplin Design Co., Jessica Hische, a freelance letterer and illustrator, and Bryn Mooth, an independent copywriter – who will judge the finalists’ works based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. One image will be named the “Best in Show” grand-prize winner and two images will be named as winners for each category, with all winning images published in HOW Magazine. Category winners receive $500 and the grand-prize winner receives $1,000 as well as registration for HOW Design Live 2013, a design conference held in San Francisco June 22-26, 2013, that features expert designers and creative workshops.

“Many designers entered the UnShow contest last year and it was great to see so much interesting art created and printed on uncoated paper,” said Tom Wright, senior director of advertising and design for Neenah Paper. “We’re looking forward to seeing what this year’s contest brings and to recognizing more designers and printers for their creative vision and talents.”
