Muller Martini's MMUpToDate Revitalizes Legacy Equipment

Press release from the issuing company

"What's old is new again" is enthusiastically received at this year's Graph Expo

In order to demonstrate the revitalizing power of its MMUpToDate productivity enhancement program, Muller Martini's Graph Expo booth featured a re-engineered 25-year-old 335 stitcher with upgrades and other options that achieved significant productivity gains, including:

  • Proper pagination with 99.9% accuracy
  • Makereadies reduced by almost 50%
  • Run speeds increased by 25-30%
  • Operational expenses lessened by as much as 50%
  • Decreased maintenance cost
  • Greatly improved overall product quality

Regional Sales Manager Randy Shannon commented, "Trimmers always take a beating, and this 335 now has a new 449 trimmer, the same as our Primera line." And, the addition of PerformancePlus stitching heads and an enhanced wire system helped yield more efficient overall operation at speeds greater than 20,000 cycles per hour-impressive for a 25-year-old stitching line. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that the 335 stitcher actually has 23 available updates.

More than 150 booth visitors received an on-the-spot MMUpToDate Productivity Improvement Report that detailed all available upgrades for their specific machines. And, approximately 15 companies booked an MMInspect service whereby Muller's factory-trained staff evaluates their entire machine.

Observed Muller spokesperson Anthony Quaranta, "Many visitors to our booth were unaware of what MMUpToDate could achieve for their operation, first and foremost the fact that it eliminates the need for a large capital investment because it enables legacy equipment to compete with today's technology. Not to mention better quality control, higher net output and less waste."

With MMUpToDate, what's old can be made new again-and perform and produce better than ever before. It is available for over 150 products in the Muller Martini catalog, everything from binders and trimmers to top-loading stream feeders, which also are compatible with competing models.

Muller Martini's theme at this year's Graph Expo was "New or Renewed: Engineered for Greater Productivity." Equipment demonstrations showed printers and finishers how they can remain competitive and relevant through investments in either new and innovative print and finishing equipment, or in upgrades and other enhancements that can increase throughput in existing machines.
