IBM Adds New Security And Process Automation Capabilities To Infoprint Workflow

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK - March 8, 2004 - ON DEMAND CONFERENCE & EXPO -- IBM today announced new security and process automation capabilities for Infoprint Workflow, IBM's solution for managing the end-to-end print process. Infoprint Workflow is designed to help customers strengthen content and quality verification, manage and improve process productivity and reduce costs. With more than 100 implementations worldwide, IBM's Infoprint Workflow is ideal for industries such as government, healthcare, financial services, insurance and print outsourcing, where security, compliance and process management are key to business growth. "Companies have been coming to IBM to gain assistance in improving productivity and cutting costs, and the Infoprint Workflow solution has been an ideal tool to achieve that goal," said Bruce Otte, worldwide production segment manager, IBM Printing Systems. "Recently, changes in the laws have forced many companies to reassess their process management capabilities and control points for auditing and security. Infoprint Workflow from IBM has new security and audit features, and a wealth of new features to continue to improve productivity and drive cost out of the output process." New Features New security features for Infoprint Workflow include print content verification, document authentication and print quality monitoring, aimed at helping customers provide rock solid security in addition to managing transactional and on-demand printing. New print content verification tools allow customers to verify that printed information matches intended information -- such as verifying that an amount appearing on a printed check matches the intended amount recorded in a database. Enhanced document authentication can print watermarks and other non-alterable markings to ensure that a document is original and unaltered. Print quality monitoring complements the new security features by examining a printed page and evaluating the clarity and quality of the applied print. IBM also added a number of process automation capabilities to help customers save time and money by increasing production efficiency. Infoprint Workflow now enables direct integration of document factory systems with client business applications. IBM has designed, built, tested and deployed complete document factory systems that consist of printers, pre- and post-processing hardware, IBM and third party software, combined with integration, installation and training services, based on customer requirements. IBM also has improved its multi-vendor print device management and data stream support. Infoprint Workflow is an end-to-end solution for effectively managing digital print production. Integrating with Infoprint Manager, Infoprint Workflow provides a single point of control for the entire document production process, from data creation and print-job acquisition through mailing. Customers have a real-time view of the various stages of production and can quickly intervene when necessary. In addition, the solution automates many steps of the printing process, reducing operator time and the likelihood of errors and delays. Infoprint Workflow is available through IBM PSD Professional Services and can be tailored to meet every customer's specific business needs.
