Creo Showcases Successful Customers at On Demand Expo

Press release from the issuing company

NEW YORK--March 8, 2004--(ON DEMAND EXPO) Creo Inc. is helping printers increase their profits and add business opportunities with solutions such as the Creo Spire(TM) color server for on-demand digital printing, being demonstrated at the On Demand Expo, March 8-10. Direct Mail Express, a direct marketing company with three branches in the United States, is creating new business with Creo solutions. Mike Panaggio, founder and CEO of Direct Mail Express, is a guest speaker at the Creo theater at On Demand. Direct Mail Express was one of the first printers to order three Xerox DocuColor iGen3 Digital Production Presses- one of the largest iGen3 installations. All three presses are powered by Spire color servers from Creo. "Today, we are able to produce a wider variety of jobs than ever before in a much shorter time, and most importantly, much more cost effectively," said Mr. Panaggio. "The Spire's flexibility, reliability and efficiency allow us to handle jobs that are much more complex, at the same speed at which we used to do smaller, simpler jobs. It allows us to keep up with our customers' increasingly complex demands and still meet their tight deadlines. With turnaround times down to between 24-48 hours, we have found that the capabilities of the Xerox DocuColor iGen3 can be fully realized with a Spire color server." Direct Mail Express has customers in the automotive, financial, home improvement, government, travel, hospitality and restaurant industries. For traditional offset printing, the company uses the Creo Brisque prepress workflow system and the Trendsetter computer-to-plate device with SQUAREspot thermal imaging. New Spire Functionality Demonstrated At On Demand, Creo is previewing version 4.0 of the Spire CXP6000 color server for the Xerox DocuColor 6060, 5252, 2045, and 2060 digital color presses. Version 4.0 introduces a new GUI design that is simpler and easier to use but offers a similar user experience that minimizes training time for current users. The new GUI enables better customization, enhanced production, quick and easy processing of files into jobs, and tracking of jobs and printer resources. Version 4.0 of the Spire CXP6000 color server offers new robust security options that enable users to introduce new services for high security jobs with sensitive or confidential content. The new version also enables the seamless transfer of job print instructions without re-entering the parameters, saving time and reducing the margin for error. By using new color features, printer output can be optimized for different substrates by using ICC profiles for different media stocks and different finishes (coated/uncoated). Version 4.0 also improves document printing capabilities for printing tabs, and offers enhanced support for variable printing documents on mixed-media jobs. Creo Variable Information Partners Presentations Members of the Creo Variable Information Partners Program are presenting their solutions in the theater on the Creo booth during On Demand. Creo partners with leading vendors of VI applications to provide a broad array of market-ready solutions for personalized data color printing. With more than 20 partners, printers can match their choice of VI authoring tool to their particular experience, applications and output devices. Hybrid Workflow Bridging Offset with Digital Printing Creo and Xerox are also demonstrating for the first time, a fully integrated JDF-based workflow for offset and digital production. The integration of the Creo Prinergy workflow management system with the Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager application will enable Prinergy users to program and submit PDF files directly to Spire color servers driving Xerox digital printers. The tight integration of Prinergy and FreeFlow Print Manager enables commercial printers to meet the need for shorter run-lengths and faster delivery times while increasing the range of services they offer to their customers. This unique hybrid workflow will be demonstrated at the Xerox booth #2501. Creo and Xerox have worked together for many years to deliver optimized digital workflow capabilities and are both partners in Networked Graphic Production(TM), the industry-wide initiative that is creating a seamlessly integrated production environment.
