Thanks to an exceptional dedication to safety, xpedx's distribution warehouse in Fairfield, a Cincinnati suburb, recently celebrated four years without an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable incident. An OSHA recordable incident is a work related accident that results in the use of prescription medication, medical treatment beyond first aid, loss of consciousness, days away from work, restricted work or transfer to another job.
 
"I couldn't be more proud of this team," said Kevin Frey, manager, Operations, xpedx Fairfield. "While I have only been in Fairfield for a short time, I have already seen the dedication to safety that each of these team members possesses on a daily basis. I also applaud each of them for the cleanliness of the facility which has a direct correlation to this wonderful safety achievement."
 
The milestone, which is comprised of nearly 260,000 hours without incident, is additionally impressive considering other factors that have made operations at Fairfield challenging at times. During the four-year streak, xpedx Fairfield relocated to a new building (an event that occurred injury-free), while also employing dozens of temporary workers through the stretch.
 
"The xpedx Fairfield warehouse is a great example of how to operate a facility both cleanly and safely," added Tim Turley, manager, Environmental Health & Safety, xpedx. "The amount of time they put into operating their facility in a top-notch manner is a clear reflection of why they have reached this significant achievement."
 
The Fairfield facility, which handles orders and distribution for national customers Toys R Us and Lowe's, is operated by a 20-member team of employees.
