xpedx Awarded ENERGY STAR in AZ, NV, and OH

Press release from the issuing company

xpedx expands relationship with ENERGY STAR program

xpedx, the leading business-to-business distribution company in North America, has been awarded the ENERGY STAR at its locations in Fairfield, Ohio; Las Vegas and Phoenix.  xpedx is also an "ENERGY STAR partner." These acknowledgements reflect xpedx's commitment to protect the environment through continuous improvement of its energy performance.

xpedx's Fairfield, Las Vegas and Phoenix sites earned the ENERGY STAR by scoring in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency, based on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's energy performance rating system. These buildings use less energy, are less expensive to operate, meet strict energy performance standards and cause fewer greenhouse gas emissions than peer facilities.

David Wallace, xpedx's director, Sustainability, said xpedx's work with ENERGY STAR is an important part of its company-wide commitment to responsible stewardship of natural resources. "xpedx continues making great progress in maintaining sustainable operations, offering sustainable products and providing leadership in sustainable business practices for our customers and suppliers," he said.

The xpedx sites in Fairfield, Las Vegas and Phoenix combined have more than 550,000 square feet of space. Randy Foster is the division manager in the Phoenix location. "xpedx is committed to work with our customers so that we can all operate more sustainably," he said. "The ENERGY STAR partnership validates that commitment and is just one of the many strategies we've implemented to save energy and lower our costs."

As an "ENERGY STAR partner," xpedx is tracking its energy consumption and improving its operating costs through energy saving strategies. xpedx has also committed to highlight its achievements as recognized by ENERGY STAR, support the ENERGY STAR challenge to improve the energy efficiency of America's commercial and industrial buildings by at least 10 percent and spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency to its employees and communities where it operates.

xpedx now has 17 sites that have earned the ENERGY STAR and is on track to meet its goal of nine additional locations in 2012. ENERGY STAR is just one element in its overall sustainability strategy. xpedx will also work toward a 15 percent increase in its recycling program and continue its three-year project to reduce trash costs ten percent by December 2013. Additionally, xpedx has renewed its SmartWay certification this year through reduced emissions from its fleet.
