NUR Star 304 in the Spotlight at MTL Print Open House

Press release from the issuing company

Packaging and sign production printers can get an early, hands-on look at the new NUR Star 304 next month when manufacturer MTL Print hosts a first-come, first-served open house "Lunch and Learn" at packaging printer Midwest Graphics of Indianapolis. The event is scheduled for Friday, September 7 from 11:30 am to 3 pm. Interested parties should contact [email protected] to guarantee a seat.

Developed by a "dream team" made up of the world's foremost digital wide format veterans now working together at MTL Print, the NUR Star 304D is a robust and industrial grade, wide format digital UV flatbed delivering high quality and high throughput for packaging, POP, display, and more; all at the lowest cost per sq.ft. This will be the third Lunch and Learn the company has held since opening its North American office in the Atlanta metropolitan area this summer.

Formerly known as the Meital 304D, the NUR Star 304 prints at speeds up to 2700 sq.ft/hour, direct to any paper substrate or rigid material including corrugated and folding cartons. Optimized for use by packaging and sign printers, it offers the lowest ink consumption in the market, and supports nonstop production with no set up time between jobs.

If it's Fast, It Must be Indianapolis
Or, a Pretty Hot Piece of Patent-Pending Engineering
MTL achieves nonstop production in the NUR Star 304 via its patent-pending Interchangeable Table. Operators can load and unload while printing; reducing between print wait-time from the typical 50 seconds to 12 seconds. Click here to see the Interchangeable Table in a video.

Craig Heavener, who manages technical R&D for Midwest Graphics, says, "This iswhere the MTL design excels. The bed comes to you. You don't have to run around to the other side of the table to change beds."

That's not all Craig likes. He also likes the patent-pending Dynamic UV System, which eliminates gloss banding and reduces electricity consumption. This, plus the built-in, variable dot size print technology that achieves better quality than 6 color systems, leads him to comment: "When we saw an early version of the NUR Star, we noted that the type of printheads MTL was using, combined with their technology, would facilitate higher speeds while maintaining the quality we were looking for.

"MTL went all the way with this machine, giving a shop the kind of speed and quality you don't expect at this price point."

Exclusive Origins
MTL was founded in 2007 by Kobi Markovitch and Moshe Nur, two pioneers of digital output technology. Nur, now Chairman of the Board, invented wideboard and blueboard -- the first superwide format inkjet printers. Among other companies, he founded NUR Macroprinters; which was subsequently sold to HP.

Kobi Markovitch, CTO, served as CTO and VP R&D at NUR Macroprinters. The 20-year industry veteran pioneered digital on demand and UV curing, and conceived of the best-selling Idanit, Fresco, Tempo and Expedio wide format digital systems.
