GMG sets its sights on Drupa with major product launch campaign

Press release from the issuing company

Tuebingen, 25th February 2004: GMG will launch several groundbreaking proofing products and features at Drupa. GMG ColorProof 04, the latest version of the award-winning GMG ColorProof software, and due for full release in March, will be the highlight of the company’s suite of proofing technologies shown on stand D74 in Hall 9. In addition the company will launch GMG FlexoProof 04, designed specifically for the needs of the flexo market; GMG InkOptimizer for impressive ink savings; and two color management modules for digital photographers. GMG ColorProof : new features & new prices GMG ColorProof 04 software features numerous innovations and improvements. Particular emphasis has been placed on a high level of automation and a seamless integration into various workflow systems. By integrating the ‘Medienkeil' (Fogra color bar) GMG answers the growing demand for standardization and brings high-end color management within the capability of all users. A complete package will be available before Drupa, which enables the user to verify and document the conformity of each proof by checking the color bar. The package consists of the application software, a Gretag spectrophotometer, and a small label printer. This application is also part of an extensive remote-proofing concept, which will be shown at Drupa for the first time. In a move that makes GMG proofing technology highly competitive, GMG has fundamentally changed its pricing structure and software costs are now based on inkjet printer output sizes. Consequently, suggested prices for GMG ColorProof now start from $2,750 for a typical two-up device. Focus on flexo As a result of its resounding success in the packaging industry, the company will launch GMG FlexoProof 04 to answer the particular needs of this market segment with specific features, such as an out-of-register and a printing substrate (cardboard etc.) simulation. The product also includes DotProof, GMG's popular system which allows users to generate contract-quality halftone proofs. Ink saving application Another new highlight at Drupa will be the GMG InkOptimizer. This application, which has been successfully in use at several large printers, automatically reduces the amount of chromatic colors, thus promising ink savings of up to 25 % on the press, while maintaining quality, and improving printing conditions. RGB/CMYK color handling Processing RGB data from digital camera systems and keeping them media-independent is a growing requirement. GMG CamFlow is an automated workflow application that handles RGB data from various systems in different color spaces and automatically neutralizes, optimizes, sharpens and separates it into the desired target color space. GMG PhotoProof addresses professional photographers, by enabling them to visualize digital camera data as CMYK prints in various standard color spaces on standard inkjet printers. Full details of all these new products will be provided at the show on the GMG Color stand D74 in Hall 9. " At Drupa the market will see the impressive results of our significant development efforts over the last months,” says Robert Weihing, GMG's CEO. “This is the first time that the company has presented such a broad range of products and, along with our new and contemporary corporate image, the event heralds a new phase in the company’s steady and continued expansion worldwide. Our aim is to provide highly competitive proofing products that deliver unrivaled quality and rapid return on investment to our customers.”
