Komori LSX529 Gives Print Farm a Competitive Advantage

Press release from the issuing company

Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, recently installed a five-color Lithrone SX29 (LSX529) with coater at Print Farm in Miami, FL. The LSX529 is Print Farm’s second Komori press. Established in 2000, the company offers complete printing services, comprehensive digital pre-press services and fully equipped bindery capabilities to clients in a variety of industries, with a specific focus on higher education. Challenged to speed turnaround time and reduce costs to meet market demands, Print Farm chose the LSX529 with coater to gain a competitive edge in both pricing and efficiency.

“We are true believers that we can be more efficient and subsequently more competitive with a press that has the advanced automation to make that happen. The LSX529 offers increased page run capabilities on a 24 x 29 ½ press sheet and superior inking and distribution enhancements. With the addition of the inline coater, we don’t have to apply varnish or coating in a separate pass. This presents a huge time saver,” said Albert Alvarez, president, Print Farm. “All of these features make it possible for us to do in seven hours what used to take 16 hours to accomplish. We have literally cut our time to market in half.”

Additionally, the LSX529 boasts a top rated speed of 16,000 impressions per hour, making it the perfect choice for the longer run work many of Print Farm’s academic applications require.

“To stay competitive, every printer today needs to find ways to slice away at production costs,” said Jacki Hudmon, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for Komori America. “We are pleased that Print Farm is taking advantage of the streamlined automation capabilities of the LSX529 press to meet its goals for increased time to market and a higher level of productivity.”
