Press release from the issuing company
Duplo USA, a leading manufacturer of print finishing equipment, announces the following new machine installations.
CAVANAUGH PRESS, a commercial printer in Baltimore, MD, is now creasing prior to folding their digitally-printed pieces with Duplo’s DC-445 Creaser. A solution no digital printer should do without, the DC-445 prevents toner cracking on a variety of documents and can process up to 15 creases in a single pass at up to 50 sheets per minute. “We used to send our jobs out for this,” says Bob Atwell, president of Cavanaugh Press. “We can now crease along and against the grain at heat score quality, without any outside expenses.” The machine was sold and installed by Duplo dealer, Coleman One. Cavanaugh Press is a full service print provider offering pre-press, offset and digital printing, finishing, and mailing services.
BOSS & HUGHES, in Houston, TX, has added Duplo’s DC-645 Slitter/Cutter/Creaser to their shop. Previously finishing such jobs as brochures, business cards and postcards manually or through outsourced vendors, the all-in-one digital color finisher has enabled them to process their jobs in-house and in a productive manner. “The DC-645 has definitely helped speed up production. Cutting and creasing is a breeze,” says Gaurav Sood, chief executive officer at Boss & Hughes. “The bindery turnaround time has greatly improved and we’re happy to have Duplo as an asset.” The machine was sold and installed directly by Duplo USA. Boss & Hughes is a full service commercial printer serving businesses, schools, and medical offices in the greater Houston area for over 40 years.
LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (LMI), located in McLean, VA, is now producing their signature booklets with one of Duplo’s near-line bookletmaking systems. Suited for their digital finishing needs, the system consists of the DSF-2000 Sheet Feeder, the high production DBM-500 Bookletmaker, the Slit/Cut/Crease (SCC) unit, and the ASM-500 Square Spine module. Before installing the system, jobs were completed on a bookletmaker from another manufacturer and manually scored. “The age of the machine and the ability to get parts for the machine were the key drivers for the upgrade,” comments Warren Murray, offices services supervisor at LMI.
With a full-bleed bookletmaking system in place, LMI has saved time and increased their efficiency. “With the Slit/Cut/Crease unit, we no longer have to manually score the covers for our signature booklets and it has eliminated the need to pre-trim the documents before binding,” adds Murray. “And with the addition of the ASM-500, it gives us the ability to do a square bind for a perfect bound look.” The system was sold and installed by Duplo dealer, Coleman One. LMI is a not-for-profit strategic consulting firm offering government leaders a range of management services such as logistics, acquisition and financial management, organizational improvement, and policy support. Their broad client base includes hundreds of government clients from agriculture and aerospace to defense and disaster relief.
