Agfa Announces More Than 7,000 :Sherpa Systems Sold

Mortsel, Belgium – Drupa – 18 February 2004 – Agfa announced today that it has sold more than 7,000 inkjet printing systems from the :Sherpa, :Grand Sherpa and :Sherpamatic ranges to date. Most of these systems are used for digital colour proofing. The :Sherpa inkjet printers work with the industry’s largest selection of :AgfaJet inkjet media and Agfa developed software for colour as well as quality management. :Sherpa systems use drop-on-demand piezo electric inkjet technology and have gained a market leadership position owing to their contract quality at a much lower cost of ownership than competing digital proofing systems on the market today. Agfa reports that it is currently selling close to five million square metres of :AgfaJet media for digital proofing annually. As the :SherpaProof establishes itself as an industry standard throughout the world, Agfa is announcing plans to offer software and media bundles for imposition and contract proofing using third-party printing engines. By Drupa, Agfa will also bring new ink saving features for the :Grand Sherpa range while enhancing the contract proofing quality in every critical aspect. In addition, remote proofing capability will be demonstrated at Drupa in co-operation with Fogra. Agfa’s solutions and services can be found at Drupa 2004 in Hall 06/D27.
