Torraspapel Participates in the Restoration of the Banks of the Tajo River in Spain

Press release from the issuing company

The Torrapapel-sponsored project has restored part of the forest area on the banks of the Tajo River along its course through Aranjuez, near Madrid.

Forest restoration is an essential pillar of Torraspapel’s social and environmental commitment.

Since 2004, Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, has collaborated with Spanish NGO Acciónatura in ecological recovery and forest restoration projects, resulting in the planting of more than 21,000 trees on the Iberian Peninsula and in Brazil.

This most recent project, made possible thanks to Torraspapel’s sponsorship, entailed restoring a degraded landscape on the banks of the Tajo River in the municipality of Aranjuez (Madrid). This area holds a double interest. As an alluvial forest it stabilizes the riverbank, reduces erosion, acts as a green filter and plays an important role as a feeding area and refuge for plants and animals. As a livestock trail, it is part of a network of age-old paths that constitute a latticework of existing ecosystems, connecting parks and other natural reserves and spaces.

This project is in keeping with Torraspapel’s mission and values of corporate social and environmental responsibility..
