Yurchak Printing and Odyssey Press Join Forces

Press release from the issuing company

The National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has announced that Yurchak Printing, Inc. of Landisville, Pa., has acquired intangible assets and select equipment of Odyssey Press, Inc., Gonic, N.H. The transaction will bring together two digital printing companies in different markets in the industry and give them economies of scale for purchasing and providing cost effective and efficient services to their customers. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“The transaction demonstrates the commitment of the Yurchak family to grow by strategic acquisition,” said John Hyde, NAPL Senior Vice President, who heads up NAPL’s M&A advisory practice. Yurchak’s interest in mergers and acquisitions came out of a strategic planning session that was facilitated at NAPL. Hyde and his team then guided Yurchak on exploring the Odyssey opportunity.

John Yurchak, Jr., CEO of Yurchak Printing, stated, “By combining the two companies we will have an expanded set of services that we can offer to all our customers. Odyssey clients will benefit from the addition of web-fed digital presses and in-house case binding. Yurchak clients will gain access to a full suite of online e-commerce and Web-to-print systems. The combined company will be one of the largest and best equipped digital print providers to the scholarly, technical, medical, and academic book and journal marketplace.”

Kevin Pirkey, former Partner at Odyssey Press, will become the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Yurchak Printing. Tad Parker, also a former Odyssey Press Partner, will be focused on the transition of Odyssey’s production operation and client relationships into the Landisville facility. According to Parker, “We couldn’t ask for a better fit in terms of company culture, management style, and operational capabilities. Uniting these two companies will create a stronger entity that will continue to provide our customers with the highest quality of personal service.”

With a current workforce of 50 employees, Yurchak Printing anticipates hiring additional staff at the Landisville plant.
