Into the future with DirectDrive

Press release from the issuing company

Frischmann Druck & Medien in Amberg, Germany, specializes in high-quality print products. To ensure quality and fast turnaround times, the company has been producing with one of the most modern printing systems, a ROLAND 700 DirectDrive with coating module and inline color measuring, since June 2011.

Founded by Manfred Frischmann in 1968 as a one-man enterprise, the company has developed into a modern, medium-sized business with a staff of 65, managed by Manfred Frischmann and his son Jürgen. “We see ourselves as a partner for our customers, and are only satisfied when they are delighted with the products,” is the philosophy that Frischmann follows. As a partner for advertising agencies and trade and industry, Frischmann uses offset, screen, and digital printing to offer a wide range of high-quality print products. Moreover, as a services provider for print and media, they also offer image databases and web-to-print solutions. The affiliated XL Print Factory rounds off the product range with large-format plotter printing and glass printing.

A new building for the new press
In the construction of the new production hall that started in 2010 and is now home for the ROLAND 700 DirectDrive and a new CtP system, special attention was paid to energy and sustainability aspects, with great importance placed on recovering and reusing heat. Frischmann now has a production area of 5,000 square meters to implement its customers’ wishes. Production was previously handled by a four- and five-color press in the 50 x 70 cm format. For the new investment in a 3B format press, it was decided to go for a five-color ROLAND 700 DirectDrive with coating module. The high production performance and the open interface to the existing Proseco MIS were major factors in the decision. Shortly after production started in spring 2011, the complete integration of the press in the existing printing plant workflow was examined regarding color and material tolerances, and certified in accordance with Process Standard Offset. The new ROLAND 700 DirectDrive provides Frischmann Druck & Medien with the possibility to apply coating inline, which increases product quality even further. The very well equipped press features parallel, fully automatic workflows, the very best format and ink slide presetting, and inline color control. Due to the modern press technology, processing of substrates from 0.04 mm up to 0.8 mm thick is no problem.
