Unisource to Host 22nd Consecutive Chicago Paper Show

NORCROSS, GA – Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, is hosting its annual Unisource Chicago Paper Show on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the historic Hilton Chicago Hotel, in downtown Chicago.

"Unisource is honored to host our 22nd consecutive Chicago Paper Show," said Glenn Barton, Vice President, Sales – Paper for Unisource. "This unique event sets us apart from our competitors – solidifying our commitment to the graphic arts community and our continued support of the U.S. paper, printing and graphic arts industry."

The Unisource Chicago Paper Show is the largest graphic design event in the country sponsored by a paper distributor. The well-established show – an invitation-only and exclusive event – attracts approximately 1,000 of the leading designers and commercial printers from around the Chicago area, one of the leading graphic arts markets in the U.S.  In its 22-year history, the Unisource Chicago show featured an Academy Award winning film, a working letterpress, the latest in paper making technology from leading mills, and the first photographer for Rolling Stone magazine.

"We put together another exciting event for the design and print community, and this year we are garnering the power of social media to create buzz and drive interest for the show," said Andrew Dembitz, Director of Specification for Unisource. "Using the hashtag #22unisourcepapershow – we are tweeting about the strong lineup of featured exhibits and our keynote speaker," he said.     

The 2011 Unisource Chicago Paper Show includes these featured exhibits and keynote speaker:

  • Keynote speaker – Trish Witkowski from foldfactory.com is an educator, author, speaker and award winning designer. She has a master's degree in printing, a deep love for the art of folding and is a champion for print communications.
  • Chicago 50 Corporate Communications Show – Annual reports, corporate brochures and sustainability reports, representing 50 of Chicago's finest companies and institutions.
  • TYPEFORCE 2 – A showcase of Chicago typographic all-stars-the best in emerging typographic design and art in Chicago.
  • Design to Print – A Marwen student show and exhibit featuring a series of greeting cards.

Marwen provides high-quality visual arts, education, college planning and career development programs – all free of charge – to Chicago's underserved youth in grades 6-12.  Unisource has been a corporate sponsor of Marwen for more than ten years and will support them again through this event by asking all those who attend to donate their $10 admission to this art foundation.  Over the years, Unisource has donated more than $100,000 to Marwen through the Unisource Chicago Paper Show.  

The show also includes environmental exhibitions by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI), and SGS North America. Other exhibitors will include Munro Campagna Artist Representatives, foldfactory.com and Rohner Letterpress.

The 2011 Unisource Chicago Paper Show is supported by the some of the world's leading paper mills including: CTI Paper USA, Domtar Corporation, Finch Paper, French Paper, grupo Portucel Soporcel, MeadWestvaco, Mohawk Fine Papers, Neenah Paper, NewPage, Reich Paper, Sappi Fine Paper, Yupo and our newest mills - . Xtreme Coated Cover and Scheufelen.
