GMG Offers Color Management - and Now Workflows at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

PrintFactory GMG Edition, a complete, automated production workflow for large format printing, and GMG P3 'Proof, Prototype and Printer' system are introduced to the Americas

Tuebingen – GMG, a leading developer and supplier of high-end color management software solutions, will be highlighting color management for conventional and digital printing. PrintFactory GMG Edition is the company's workflow solution for large format digital printing, the first result of the company's acquisition of Aurelon this past May. GMG P3 provides an unattended, sheetfed, contract, double-sided proofing system up to 8-up on the actual press substrate.

New: PrintFactory GMG Edition, a complete automated production workflow for large format printing featuring GMG color management

Identifying a specific need among large format printers for an all-inclusive workflow system with high quality color management, GMG created PrintFactory GMG Edition. The complete workflow includes production automation, color management, preflighting, PDF file editing, real-time previewing, output RIPing, as well as cutting and finishing instructions for more than 600 printers and cutting systems. The range of features is specifically developed for, and dedicated to, large format print providers, offering all tools needed to complete a job.

NEW: Unique GMG P3 "Proof, Prototype and Print" system produces color-accurate, two-sided, 8-up contract proofs on the actual press substrate

The GMG P3 System, a result of the unique collaboration between GMG, Roland DGA and Beyond Manufacturing, offers unattended, sheetfed, contract, double-sided proofing up to 8-up on the actual press substrate. Major components include GMG color management, a Roland UV LEC 330 inkjet printer, and an automatic sheetfeeder developed specifically for the GMG P3 System by Beyond Manufacturing.

The GMG P3 System provides exceptional flexibility for customers. Many commercial printers use a proprietary proofing system for color, and use a separate, low quality, two-sided inkjet printer to show content and registration. Now, they can generate a two-sided color contract proof in registration, unattended, on one device. Further, the same unit can be used for package prototyping and short production runs on almost any substrate, maximizing flexibility with no additional investment.

The GMG P3 system offers exceptional color management from an inkjet-based solution with a large gamut for GRACoL-based proofs. Additionally, unlike conventional proprietary systems utilizing donor sheets, there is no manual labor and no lamination or pre-lamination. Depending on monthly volume, the ROI of the GMG P3 System, compared to proprietary systems, can be as little as four months.

Accurate color, whether classic or digital printing

Wherever a color goes, it stays that color. Digital and large format printers increasingly expect high color accuracy, repeatability, and colors that match those of print media produced by classic printing processes, such as offset or gravure printing. The same applies to companies that operate several output devices of an identical or similar type calibrated to industry or in-house standards. Centralized color management with GMG ColorServer in conjunction with GMG SmartProfiler is a user-friendly solution for creating GMG ColorServer profiles and printer calibrations. GMG SmartProfiler enables any user to easily calibrate, recalibrate and profile a wide variety of output devices without needing any in-depth knowledge of color management. Data is converted automatically to the corresponding output color space using GMG ColorServer incorporating Adobe-based PDF to PDF technology. Consistent color results are easily achieved across all printing devices.

"This is a pretty exciting time for GMG," enthuses Jim Summers, GMG Americas President. "Along with conventional print, we continue to make significant inroads among digital and wide format print providers, as is evidenced by our acquisition of Aurelon and our partnerships with HP and Roland. The PrintFactory GMG Edition production workflow, along with GMG color management technology, offers a complete, high quality workflow package to this market. The GMG P3 system, with an automatic sheetfeeder, allows commercial printers to get the doubled-sided, contract quality they want, along with unattended, cost-effective operation. Print providers are getting more sophisticated and brand owners are raising their demands for color quality and consistency. Our recent product development reinforces GMG's claim that 'Wherever a color goes it stays that color'.
