Chicago, - CHROMiX Announces Digital PressWatch, a Maxwell-powered service specifically tuned for monitoring color for digital presses and problem diagnosis.
Digital PressWatch combines full-page diagnostics and automated measurement routing with standard Maxwell features like notifications, multi-dimensional reporting and multi-user web browser access. The combination creates a unique tool allowing press operators rapid target scanning and at-a-glance diagnostics.
"The new TargetView function provides a 'heat map' view for quickly and easily visualizing errors across the printed sheet", explains Steve Upton, CHROMiX president. "With digital presses, each page can be a separate job, so it's easy to print full-page color targets. With Digital PressWatch we've combined cross-sheet measurements and the speed of X-Rite's iSis scanning spectrophotometer to open up a whole new world of color diagnostics."
Digital PressWatch also takes advantage of the iSis' integrated barcode reader. Maxwell employs job and equipment meta data encoded in the target's barcode to automatically route measurements into the correct Track. "With the iSis in AutoScan mode, operators simply feed in the target and Maxwell will automatically download the information required to scan the target. It's seamless and comes very close to our goal of zero-config on the client end." said Upton.
The TargetView graphic and other QC results are available for immediate press-side reporting as well as online within Maxwell.
"The Digital PressWatch components of Maxwell have been in use for over 2 years with some of our largest customers.... we just haven't named it (beyond the Maxwell brand name) or made Digital PressWatch a publicly available service until now" says Upton. "We're excited to deliver this next phase of Maxwell system capabilities and continue down the path of focusing it for specific markets."
Digital PressWatch is sold per press, or bundled for multiple presses. "Pricing starts with a single digital press for $999 per year and $2499 for 3 presses per year" said Rick Hatmaker, CHROMiX Worldwide Sales & Marketing. "We also customize pricing for any amount of presses a customer may need to monitor with Digital PressWatch."
