Integrates with Navigator RIP and Workflow Solutions

Ann Arbor, Michigan – Xitron, the prepress industry's leading independent developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors, RIP management software and workflow solutions, today announced the release of new color proofing solutions for Epson 4900, 7890 and 9890 printers to complement the company's Navigator Harlequin RIP and Workflow.

The Xitron Epson proofing solutions offer users many features and benefits including:

  • Direct support for Epson's wide-format inkjet printers
  • Ability to produce proofs with the same RIP that produces plates
  • Extensive control over colors to produce the highest quality proofs
  • Gracol, SWOP and Fogra profiles for use with Xitron X1 and Epson proofing papers
  • Advanced screening specifically designed for Epson printers
  • Optional RIP Once, Output Many ROOM Proofing
  • Seamless integration with Navigator workflow solutions and Navigator Proofing RIPs

"Support for the 4900, 7890 and 9890 devices is an extension of Epson proofing options from Xitron," stated Mark Eisenschenk, Xitron's President and Chief Executive Officer. "With an Epson x900 or x890 proofer and Xitron's X1 inkjet media, users will be able to easily produce high quality, contract proofs that meet industry standards."

Navigator Proofing complements Navigator Harlequin RIP based workflow solutions by using a single RIP for both proof and final output, thus improving prepress production while ensuring data integrity and delivering high quality contract proofs. With ROOM Proofing, the proof is output from the same data as used for the final output.

The Epson proofing plug-in is an option for any Windows-based Navigator Harlequin RIP Workflow or Navigator Harlequin Proofing RIP version 8 and higher. North American users who purchase a Xitron Epson Proofing plug-in or RIP will also receive a starter roll of Xitron's X1 TotalProof inkjet media. This proofing media was specially formulated to meet the demands of commercial printers by closely matching a typical commercial press sheet.

Navigator Proofing is one of many productivity modules available for Xitron's Navigator workflow solutions. Other modules include PDF Tools to create and preflight PDFs; Imposition which integrates Dynagram's inpO2; Ink Remapping to merge excess plates, and KeySetter Connect, which provides press ink key presets to reduce make-ready time.

Xitron also supports other Epson proofing devices including the Stylus Pro 4800, Stylus Pro 7800, Stylus Pro 9800, Stylus Pro 4880, Stylus Pro 7880, Stylus Pro 9880, Stylus Pro 7900 and Stylus Pro 9900.
