GPO Supports New Congressional Digital Collection

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON-As the digital information platform for permanent access to the authentic version of published Federal Government information, the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) supports legislation introduced in the House of Representatives and the Senate to make Federal agency reports to Congress available on GPO's Federal Digital System (FDsys).  S.1411 was introduced by Sen. Joe Lieberman, with support from Senators Susan Collins and Tom Coburn, requiring GPO to publish electronic copies of congressionally-mandated agency reports with enhanced search capabilities for the public.  Rep. Mike Quigley has introduced companion legislation, H.R. 1974, in the House, with 16 cosponsors.  GPO's FDsys is a one-stop site to authentic, published Government information on the three branches of the Federal Government.

"GPO supports this effort to keep America informed by making Federal agency reports to Congress more transparent and accessible to the public," said Public Printer Bill Boarman.  "Using FDsys, our employees have the experience and expertise to carry out this legislation."
