First Océ ColorStream 3500 placed at Itergo

Press release from the issuing company

Venlo, The Netherlands, – Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced that Océ Deutschland GmbH and Itergo Informationstechnologie GmbH have signed a contract for the installation of four Océ ColorStream 3500 printing systems and their operation as twin systems. This is the first placement of an Océ ColorStream 3500 in Germany. Itergo will use the two continuous feed twin systems for high-productivity fully variable color inkjet printing, with installation planned for later this month.

Colored elements boost printed communication
Using this Océ ColorStream plain paper solution, Itergo can in future produce full color transaction documents such as insurance policies, damage assessment reports, customer information or account statements in one work step without the need to produce offset-printed forms in advance. Substituting preprinted material gives Itergo a considerable potential for process optimization. Moreover, communicating in color creates new possibilities to better and more accurately address customers. Colored elements in correspondence, policies and invoices make orientation within the document easier for the reader and permit the sender to selectively highlight important information.

"After an intensive selection process, we determined that Océ could provide us with the best solution for operational optimization using full color systems," said Michael Adamitzki, Document Services Manager at Itergo. "The Océ ColorStream 3500 meant that hardware that fits this kind of solution could be provided, allowing us to meet both today's and tomorrow's needs." Itergo is sure that Océ can successfully implement such a complex color solution.

Partnership of many years standing
The economic operation of the system when printing black & white, the impressive print quality and the flexibility of usage as a single or twin system depending on requirements were prime arguments for Itergo to invest in the Océ ColorStream 3500. The many years of close cooperation in partnership with Océ also had a positive influence on this decision.

Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President Océ Production Printing, observes that "due to its flexible concept, the Océ ColorStream 3500 can be easily upgraded in the field by up to 6 colors to meet future user needs. Such flexibility ensures a future-proof system that simplifies the transition from applications and business models to high-quality documents with variable personalization and intelligent communication in color."

Striking out in a new direction – but basing it on proven technology
The Océ ColorStream 3500, the first high-performance full color inkjet printing system with the combination of Océ DigiDot inkjet technology, Océ SRA MP controller and the well-known Océ twin concept, sets new standards for high-productivity full color inkjet printing. The system, designed for high-speed printing, is equipped with a wealth of innovative technologies that ensure improved print quality and productivity, and decisively affect the areas where it can be used.

As well as simplex/duplex flexibility, these include machine-oriented flexible extension into color. With its modular construction and various single and twin configurations, the printing system is perfectly suited for a straightforward transition from black & white to full color printing – right up to five or six colors.

All of these features increasingly simplify integration into existing datacenter environments with regard to transport dimensions, weight and power requirements. In addition, the new functions can considerably reduce startup wastage.

First-class print quality, option for color included
The Océ ColorStream 3500 combines the first-class print quality of the Océ DigiDot inkjet technology with the flexibility of configuration of the Océ VarioStream family. The proven Océ DigiDot inkjet technology provides needle-sharp details and an extremely high print quality at full-rated speed. At a printing speed of 75 meters per minute, and a printing width of 540 mm, no fewer than 505 A4 prints (simplex) or 1010 A4 pages (twin) can be produced per minute at a 1200 dpi image perception quality with the optional multilevel quality enhancement feature. The twin configuration easily supports monthly print volumes of four to 24 million pages in A4 format.

This high-performance continuous feed printing system offers productivity and flexibility for color and black & white applications in transaction printing, TransPromo and direct mailing as well as highly reliable production of both books and manuals with a quality of print and a broad palette of materials. Due to its flexibility, the Océ ColorStream 3500 is well suited to enable customers currently handling black & white print volumes simply and smoothly transition to full color printing.
