David McQuiddy, III Named PIAS’ 2011 Person of the Year

(Nashville, TN) – Mr. David McQuiddy, III,  McQuiddy Classic Printing, Nashville, Tennessee, was named by the Printing Industry Association of the South, Inc. (PIAS) as their Person of the Year. This honor was bestowed at a banquet held on June 21, 2011 during the PIAS Annual Convention at the Hilton SanDestin Beach Resort in Destin, Florida.

David McQuiddy grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from Brentwood Academy in 1978, and received a BA in Business Administration in 1982 from Birmingham Southern College.

Out of College, David took his first position in the printing industry as an estimator and sales trainee at Birmingham Printing & Publishing. In 1985, David came back to Nashville to join his family’s printing company as a Customer Service Rep. He became a Sales Executive in 1987 and in 1995 he was named President of the company. Also in 1995, David was recognized by Printing Impressions magazine as one of the printing industry’s “40 printers under 40.”

David McQuiddy has served his community in numerous organizations. He joined the board of directors of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra in 1999 and served as Chairman of the Board in 2006 and 2007. As a former Eagle Scout, he has continued to be very loyal to the Boy Scouts of America. In 2008, he received the Silver Beaver award which is the highest honor given to volunteers by the Boy Scouts of America.

David served as a volunteer on the Middle Tennessee Council working on the marketing committee and the executive committee. In 2010, he served as Chairman of the Middle Tennessee Council’s 100-year celebration. In 2008, David was awarded the Business Community for the Arts award, which recognizes members of the business community who have shown ongoing support for the Arts.  

David McQuiddy has devoted countless hours to his beloved Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He served 4 years as a member and chair of the Staff Parish committee. For the last 3 years, he has served on the finance committee and is now it’s current Chair.

David began serving on the PIAS Board of Directors in 1995 and immediately took leadership and became the Membership Committee Chairman. During his term the membership went up from the low 400s to over 500 members. David began serving on the PIAS Board Executive Committee in 2003, eventually becoming Chairman of the Board in 2006. The Person of the Year was also an integral part of the PIAS President Selection Committee when former PIAS President, David Bacon announced his retirement.

The Person of the Year resides in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife of 21 year, Marijane. They have three children: Matt – 19, Ben – 16 and Meg – 14.
