Finch Paper and PIA's Joe Marin Present HOW Design Conference Session

Press release from the issuing company

Glens Falls, NY - Finch Paper and Printing Industries of America team-up to present Digital Printing Essentials: What You Need to Know to Create Top-Notch Print Projects, a comprehensive session to be held Saturday, June 25 at 3:45 pm in Room Columbus C-F, at the HOW Design Conference. Attendees will be the first to receive copies from the first run of the limited edition Digital Field Guide. The first dozen attendees to enter the session will receive autographed versions.

Leading the presentation is the Guide's co-author, expert trainer Joe Marin. Today Senior Analyst, Digital Technologies at Printing Industries of America, Marin says that Digital Printing Essentials offers immediately useable, real-world best practices and tips to designers for digital print projects. "This is not the one you'll walk away from, scratching your head and thinking, 'wow, I need to go through that again; did I write down the presenter's email?'"

"No," Marin says, emphatically. "This is the one where you'll be pulling your Mac out of your bag as you walk, thinking, 'is there a place to sit down? I really want to try some of those techniques - now!'"

This special HOW Design Conference session is a crash course in how to maximize results – and the "wow" factor – when designing for digital print. During the session, Marin will demonstrate techniques for generating smart, creative, and beautiful digital print jobs. He will additionally address best practices for managing color, transparency, gradients, variable data and more.

Marin and his colleagues at Printing Industries have been learning, and subsequently teaching, digital design through output -- on the job -- since Apple installed its first Power Macintosh 7500 in the Printing Industries Lab in 1995, says Marin, author of dozens of graphic arts production books, guides, reports and training curricula for traditional and digital design and production. He is also the lead instructor in the best-selling Printing Industries of America workshop, Orientation to the Graphic Arts. In addition to public workshops; Marin develops, and leads, custom training programs for major industry manufacturers and suppliers.

His work as a veteran speaker on color management, PDF workflow, preparing print-ready files, web-to-print, and business-related issues has made Marin one of the Industry's most-in-demand speakers.

Special session bonus: free, limited edition Digital Field Guide
And, for the first time ever, session attendees will see – and receive – the new, collaborative 70-page Digital Field Guide. The comprehensive guide contains design considerations for digital printing. Components include a basic breakout of current printing technology, including digital presses; and it delves specifically into designing for digital to produce optimal results.

"Our research for the Digital Field Guide allowed us to uncover and include many of the unique considerations necessary for both designers and printers to produce a job successfully on a digital press," says Marin. "This very succinct guide serves as a roadmap and shows that Finch is committed to supporting the success of designers and printers in the digital printing market."
