QuadTech Exhibits at India's Packaging Fair, PackPlus South

Press release from the issuing company

Sussex, Wisconsin, USA, 2011-Global leader in press control technology, QuadTech (stand 3.63), will exhibit a range of automated inspection, verification and color measurement solutions for flexo and gravure printing at the PackPlus South 2011 fair, taking place at the Hytex Exhibition Centre, Hyderabad, July 1-4.

The growth of India's consumer goods market has opened up opportunities for those package printers who are able to assure global brand-owners a consistently high standard of quality. Sophisticated, automated press controls are a vital component with which the packaging printer ensures the quality that, in turn, communicates brand integrity in a competitive retail environment.

Karl Fritchen, President of QuadTech, comments: "With our breakthrough press control technology, backed up with a global support and service network, package printers have the perfect platform on which to competitively offer precision quality, whatever substrate they use. Our booth at PackPlus South provides the ideal opportunity to appreciate this added value at first hand."

Product Details
QuadTech will highlight several press control products relevant to package printers at the show. These include:

The Autotron 2600 with ClearLogic Register Guidance System is an integrated, flexible and cost-efficient tool for minimizing waste and improving print quality across packaging and decorative printing applications. Its specialized solid-state scanning heads can detect a wide range of pale and low-contrast marks, thus ensuring complete control regardless of substrate, ink, or printing technique.

The QuadTech Inspection System inspects the entire substrate in-line during printing, laminating and rewinding. Unlike other inspection systems that only scan small sample areas, the QuadTech Inspection System achieves total defect detection with the press running uninterrupted at normal print speeds, inspecting the entire substrate width 100% of the time.

The Inspection System with SpectralCam combines true 100% inspection with advanced color measurement in a single system. The technology has been enhanced with the capability of measuring color in-line on unsupported film as well as paper. The system assures continuous, in-line monitoring of virtually all web-fed package materials, including transparent, translucent and opaque substrates. The SpectralCam camera uses true 31 bin spectrophotometer technology to measure spectral response and calculates accurate L*a*b*, ΔE and ΔDensity values at maximum press and rewinder speeds. It measures up to 72 color targets within the work, configured as 12 units with six targets and is many  times more sensitive to subtle color differences than the human eye.

The PDF Verification program makes structural comparisons between the golden template and the customer-approved digital artwork file. This is a fail-safe means of ensuring the correct cylinder is being used.

The stand-alone Color Measurement System with SpectralCam provides fast, accurate color measurement on the running press. Smart spectrophotometer technology enables the system to quickly detect and analyze colorimetric and density variations from pre-determined targets. The system has been enhanced with an optional high resolution dot viewing capability, which allows press operators to view dot reproduction and structure.

The QuadTech Web Viewing System is suitable for all packaging applications, providing a 'freeze-frame' view of a section of the web in high resolution. When used in conjunction with 100% inspection, it provides a mechanical zoom to show a repeating defect in a much higher resolution while the inspection system continues scanning the web.

Data Central for Inspection is a database for logging and analysis of defects and press performance. This program generates easily accessible reports that provide instant overviews of current or historical performance, allowing fast pin-pointing and remedy of production problems.
