SCI selects Avanti as their Print MIS Provider of Choice

Press release from the issuing company

Toronto – Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of Print MIS and Web-to-Print solutions, today announced that SCI, a full- service digital commercial book publisher in Carlstadt, New Jersey, has selected Avanti’s Print MIS system as the core MIS application to manage their growing operation. Avanti MIS software provides the integration capabilities necessary to achieve zero touch workflows.

“After conducting in-depth analysis of all the Print MIS systems on the market, we determined that Avanti was really the only system that could offer us the level of connectivity we were looking for, and the ability to easily integrate with all the digital equipment in our shop,” says Burt Scherman, President of SCI. “As we continue to expand our business, Avanti will allow us to handle increased capacities much more efficiently without having to hire additional resources,” adds Scherman.

SCI, as part of the Command Web family of companies, was launched nine years ago to be the pre press and digital print division for Command Web. Today the company operates with over 100 employees and is one of the largest digital printers in New Jersey servicing the financial services, healthcare and higher education markets.  SCI has begun a significant expansion project which includes transferring the entire operation to a 100,000 sq ft. facility as well as installing in a T300 HP inkjet press.  SCI already produces millions of 1-color and 4-color pages a day on their toner-based equipment which includes Kodak Digimaster, HP Indigo, and Xeikon web presses.  SCI also sees the need to continually invest in other inkjet technologies, advanced software and workflow solutions, and information security programs such as ISO 27000 to take advantage of the faster equipment speeds and variable technologies the markets are demanding.

“For years, SCI has been investing in best-in-class applications and equipment; now the challenge is getting them all to work together,” says Patrick Bolan, CEO of Avanti. “Automation and integration becomes the key to being able to grow your business, operate more efficiently and focus on diversification. As a big proponent of integration, we are looking forward to working with SCI in this multi-phased roll-out and expansion initiative,” adds Bolan.
