EFI Brings End-to-End Print Management and Workflow Solutions to GOA

MIAMI--Jan. 23, 2004-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in digital imaging and print management solutions for commercial and enterprise printing, will be displaying its top-selling Best proofing, Hagen OA, PrintSmith(TM) and PrintFlow(TM) products the Graphics of Americas show being held in Miami, Florida from January 23 to 24. These powerful solutions streamline workflow processes, reduce cost and increase overall productivity for CRDs, in-plants, quick printers and print-for-pay shops looking for a greater return on their investment.
Best Colorproof(TM) version 5.0, Best Colorproof Laser version 5.0 and Best Screenproof(TM) version 5.0 include the Best LinTool utility for linearization and relinearization of output devices. This powerful linearization feature interfaces with spectrometers from leading manufacturers and boasts a new user-friendly interface. Additionally, these updated proofing tools enable users to define customized color gradations, select special dot colors and allow for composite color printing of unique colors. Support of native one-bit data formats has been added to Best Screenproof along with the PageBuffer format from Harlequin, the Len format from Esko Graphics, the Founder format from Founder and the PCX format.
EFI's Best Designer Edition(TM) version 3.0 is a newly developed, Mac OS X based solution that incorporates the Adobe PostScript engine (Adobe CPSI), an Aqua-based graphic user interface, file support for PDF/X files and Best Color Editor for spot colors. An array of sophisticated features enables small companies in the graphic arts market to produce high quality, continuous-tone color proofs easily and economically.
The integration of Adobe PostScript 3(TM) with these Best proofing products has added an over-printing function enabling support for In-RIP separation of composite workflows and 2-byte fonts. The integration allows EFI to quickly incorporate new developments by PostScript inventor Adobe and integrate new changes into its Best proofing products. Three selectable RIP resolutions have also been added to Best Colorproof, Best Screenproof and Best Designer Edition which accelerate the RIP processes while maintaining consistent output resolution of the printing device.
Best ColorProof, Best ColorProof Laser, Best ScreenProof and Best Designer Edition are compatible with over 50 printers including models from Agfa, Canon, Encad, Epson, Hewlett Packard, OKI and Roland. Printer support for PictroProof from Fujifilm is available as an option for Best Colorproof and Best Screenproof.
EFI's Hagen OA enables commercial printers to manage a multitude of complex tasks in less time, improving productivity and business efficiencies. Hagen integrates an intelligent estimating system with high-end applications for job management, purchasing, scheduling, inventory and fulfillment, and provides real-time access to the status of the entire print operation. An Enterprise version of Hagen is available for large multi-plant or multi-division printers. The multi-lingual, multi-currency application has been installed in the U.S., U.K., Guatemala and Costa Rica and is currently available in English and Spanish versions. In addition, Hagen will be available in French, German and Polish versions in Q2 2004.
The company's PrintSmith product provides an automated system for tracking customer account details. It enables print shops to identify which customers, services and products are proving most profitable and make informed decisions to help their business grow. Invoices can be reviewed, reopened for reprints anytime, and automatically updated with new pricing. Users can review customer history, sort out payments or finance charges, and even generate customer lists to develop targeted direct mail advertisements. PrintSmith provides the tools print shops need to manage information more efficiently, streamline operations, and add to the bottom line. PrintSmith is a Mac & Windows based program that easily downloads into popular accounting programs such as QuickBooks, MYOB, Peachtree, SAGE, Simply Accounting, Multi-Ledger, and Business Works. PrintSmith is available in more than 26 languages and installed in more than 80 countries.
EFI's award-winning PrintFlow dynamic scheduling software helps printers realize savings by optimizing the interaction of all the processes in the print facility. Based on the Theory of Global Optimization (TGO), PrintFlow manages the scheduling process as a complete operation in order to minimize costs and boost profitability. PrintFlow automatically considers the specifications of each job on a scheduling board and identifies the optimal print schedule while maximizing the efficiency of the machinery and employees on the shop floor.
