German daily Hamburger Abendblatt introduces iPad app

Press release from the issuing company

The German daily HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT is now available on the iPad. The new offering from North Germany's largest regional newspaper sets its editorial focus on the Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the region, and presents the 24 best and most important stories from Hamburg, the North, and "Germany and the world" every weekday. Readers can easily access the content via an innovative, three-line navigation scroll bar – boundaries set by editorial departments are intentionally reset. The editorial team in the newsroom of HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT takes full advantage of the comprehensive multi-media and technical capabilities of the iPad. Along with each article, readers find additional photo galleries and videos, along with a section featuring the 12 most beautiful and impressive news photos of the day.

Claus Strunz, Editor in Chief of HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT, said, "For decades, we have provided the best information, subtle details and comprehensive analysis – from and for Hamburg and the region. With the successful approach we've used to feature local information, to expand regional news and to further strengthen our nationwide relevance, we are now pleased to be offering our content on this new generation of devices, the tablets. This underscores our position as number one and the clear innovation leader in the north of Germany."

After several weeks of testing, the new iPad offering of HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT is available at an introductory price of 14.99 Euro per month in the App Store. Existing subscribers of HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT can use the app as part of their subscription at a discounted price of 3.99 Euro per month. Since December 2010, the HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT has also been represented with its own app on the iPhone.

The iPad App of HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT was implemented in cooperation with the system integrator ProPublish AG, using the Digital Magazine Solution provided by WoodWing.
