Agfa Demonstrates :Delano File Transfer Connectivity with Vio
Press release from the issuing company
Mortsel, Belgium – 29 September 2003 – Agfa today announced that it is showing how the :Delano Production system, a customer-focused project management tool for commercial printers, can tap into the power of Vio's inter-enterprise workflow solution. The companies' latest technological integration enables :Delano customers to use the application-agnostic Vio Digital Workflow Suite to capture and deliver valuable upstream JDF metadata and the payload into the :Delano Production system. :Delano customers can use this once-untapped metadata to manage and automate their downstream processes, dramatically eliminating any re-keying and the chance for human error.
":Delano is an open system that connects seamlessly with all available file transfer infrastructures, making the management and execution of file submission, remote proofing and approval processes between print buyers and print providers more efficient than ever before," says Lieven Callewaert, Agfa's Worldwide Marketing Director for :Delano. "We encourage vendors of file transfer infrastructure to embrace JDF meta information exchange which can provide :Delano customers with all the required relevant job information right from the start of the workflow process."
The Agfa-Vio technological integration is a continuing collaborative initiative. At IPEX in 2002, the companies announced the integration of Agfa's :Sherpa proofer family with Vio's Digital Workflow Suite, enabling remote, colour-managed proofing tracked via JDF job tickets. Due to the success of this integration, and the demand of the :Delano and Vio connection, the companies are continuing this initiative.
"Vio's JDF-enabled inter-enterprise workflow solutions talking to Agfa's :Delano Graphic Enterprise Software further demonstrates the strength and importance of JDF-enabled applications in the graphic arts industry," states Alan Darling, Executive Vice President, Vio Inc. "JDF-enabled applications can significantly streamline modern workflows, and we are excited to offer this integration for Agfa customers."
