EFI: Pantone Grants Official Approval of Best Proofing Software

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Sept. 29, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, has been awarded PANTONE approval to integrate PANTONE solid to process definitions for CMYK reproduction into the latest versions of its Best(TM) proofing software. This offers users a fully automated PANTONE Color function, saving operator time by eliminating manual input of color definitions, reducing inaccuracies in the final output and increasing efficiency of the proofing process. Pantone, Inc. is the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design and print industries. By incorporating the PANTONE Color definitions into the Best proofing software, operators can simply process print jobs containing PANTONE Color separations and the software will automatically produce a color-accurate output of the complete print job. "Pantone is delighted to work with EFI's Best division as a licensed technology partner," said Andrew Hatkoff, vice president of Electronic Color Systems at Pantone, Inc. "Pantone and EFI have collaborated to integrate support for PANTONE solid to process color simulations into Best Proofing products which will provide consistent and reliable high-quality representations of PANTONE Colors in CMYK that can be output across many devices." Ghilad Dziesietnik, VP of Workflow Products at EFI added, "We strongly support the philosophy of industry standardization and see the benefits that this can bring to the industry as a whole. By working with Pantone, Inc. to incorporate PANTONE Color simulations into our Best proofing solutions, and having undergone a series of stringent quality assurance tests to gain the PANTONE license, we are confident that we are offering our customers a proofing solution that will ensure reliable and consistently high quality output and add to the overall efficiency of their prepress workflow." EFI has incorporated PANTONE Color definitions into version 5.0 of its Best Colorproof(TM), Best Screenproof(TM) and Best PhotoXposure(TM) software, as well as version 3.0 of Best Designer Edition(TM) and Photo Edition(TM).
