New Adobe GoLive CS Speeds Creative Web Design with Powerful Authoring Tools

Press release from the issuing company

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Sept. 29, 2003-- Adobe Systems Incorporated, the leader in network publishing, today announced Adobe GoLive CS, a major release of the powerful, integrated Web publishing tool for creative professionals involved in Web design. Available as a key component of the Adobe Creative Suite (also announced today) or as a stand-alone software application, GoLive CS speeds web site design and production with innovative capabilities such as Package for GoLive from InDesign, and GoLive Co-Author(TM) as well as advanced Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) visual authoring and extensive support for Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). "GoLive CS advances Web authoring with new capabilities that allow designers to take their print work to the web in record time," said Jim Heeger, senior vice president of Creative Professional Products at Adobe. "In addition, with Adobe PDF a crucial element across millions of web sites, GoLive CS offers the industry's most integrated and simple PDF workflow for publishing documents to the Internet." Advanced CSS Support Adobe GoLive CS offers a powerful visual programming environment aligned with industry standards. By supporting CSS level-2 layout and authoring, separating form from content for Web communication, GoLive CS lets designers visually author CSS level-2 compliant pages and check support in different browsers and devices. A completely redesigned CSS editor helps create styles, which can be rendered instantly with a visual preview. Working with source code is now even more powerful in GoLive CS. Code-completion offers users the ability to work with tags directly from a pop-up list in the source code editor, right as they type. 360Code provides a complete set of roundtripping tools to ensure proper code integrity and allow for fast code clean-up. In addition to new CSS tools, GoLive CS features Apple QuickTime authoring enhancements. New Level of Adobe Integration Adobe GoLive CS provides unparalleled integration with components in the Adobe Creative Suite and the familiar Adobe look and feel makes it easy for designers to get up-to-speed quickly on GoLive CS. Offering industry-leading support for Adobe PDF, GoLive CS takes advantage of Adobe PDF for common tasks, including late stage bookmark and link edits, previewing pages, and exporting page designs directly to Adobe PDF for client review. The breakthrough Package for GoLive feature in Adobe InDesign CS allows designers to quickly export the textual and image assets of sophisticated pre-press layouts into Adobe GoLive CS, radically cutting down the time required to create integrated print and Web campaigns. Smart Objects allow users to work with native Adobe Photoshop CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, and Adobe Acrobat files directly inside of GoLive CS, while the Adobe Color Engine (ACE) enhances and streamline color workflows. Smart Guides provide vertical and horizontal indicators to line up page elements and include pre-built, professionally-made elements for Web page design. Changes can now be viewed immediately in GoLive CS with the Live Rendering palette, a real-time rendering window for Web design. The Adobe GoLive Co-Author, a feature set and standalone interface for collaborating with other team members, allows participants to make changes through a form-like interface without changing the layout. New Adobe Creative Suite Adobe GoLive CS is a component of the all-new Adobe Creative Suite. The Adobe Creative Suite Premium Edition combines full, new versions of Adobe Photoshop CS with ImageReady CS, Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe InDesign CS, Adobe GoLive CS, and Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional and introduces the innovative new Version Cue(TM) file version manager, to easily track iterations and quickly locate files. The Adobe Creative Suite is a complete design solution that gives today's creative professionals everything they need to create and publish content to print and the Web faster, more easily, and more efficiently than ever.
