Standard partner Hunkeler to host Innovationdays 2011

Press release from the issuing company

Andover, Massachusetts – Standard partner Hunkeler will host Innovationdays 2011 February 14-17 in Lucerne, Switzerland, where over 5,000 international experts and professionals from the areas of Print on Demand, Data Center, Mailroom, and Web Finishing will gather to see live demonstrations of the latest digital print applications and paper processing solutions.  Innovationdays will be held at the expanded Lucerne trade fair complex on the shores of Lake Lucerne, in 54,000 square feet of new exhibition space.

Hunkeler has organized this 9th bi-annual showcase in partnership with the leading digital printing, inserting and finishing companies.  Over 70 companies are represented including Canon, HP, InfoPrint Solutions Company, Kodak, Nipson, Screen, Océ, Xeikon, Xerox and Horizon.  The event promises significant technology premiers, with a broad range of live applications that span the full spectrum of digital printing and paper handling.  Guests are invited to learn more and pre-register at www.innovationdays.com. A “virtual innovationdays” website will be available soon for anyone who is unable to attend the live event.

Hunkeler will showcase their expertise and commitment to serve the fast-growing continuous-feed ink-jet and digital color markets with solutions specifically designed for full-bleed trimming and extra-sensitive paper handling, to avoid any propensity for marking. As continuous-feed digital color ramps-up to higher speeds and wider webs, “Huncolor-ready” paper handling will deliver the transpromotional, direct mail and publishing end-products that customers want.

Highlights include the Gen6 rotary cutter with variable chip-out, a non-stop precision stacker for continuous productivity, and unmatched substrate flexibility from 40 gsm light-weight stock up to 300 gsm.  The new Standard Hunkeler PF7 plow fold module will also premier, along with the full range of new Gen6 unwinders, cutters, stackers, and rewinders.  The Gen6 series sets new benchmarks in productivity, with easy and automated set-up and changeover.  All Standard Hunkeler equipment is designed to handle the speeds of the world’s fastest digital printing systems – up to 720 feet per minute and beyond.

A Standard Horizon StitchLiner 6000 Digital saddlestitching system will be shown with cover insertion and the new HSF-30S high-speed sheet feeder, tightly integrated with Hunkeler unwinding and rotary cutting technology.  This system allows customers to proceed from roll or sheet to finished booklets in one process with no intervention or manual touchpoints.  The highly productive system supports variable sheet-count bookletmaking and can also interpose pre-printed sheets anywhere in the booklet.

The Standard Horizon AFC-566F Digital production folder will also be shown in-line with the Standard Hunkeler CS6 rotary cutter.  Tight technical integration between these modules yield ultra-fast set-up and changeover, application flexibility, and variable speed matching for smooth operation.  This solution is particularly attractive in direct mail -- allowing in-line gluing and folding of one-piece mailers -- and digital book production for in-line signature folding.

According to Johan Laurent, Standard Hunkeler Business Manager, “As Hunkeler’s North American partner, we believe Innovationdays is an excellent venue for digital print professionals to learn, share, and find answers to the paper processing challenges that face their business.  This may be the most complete range of live digital print solutions ever assembled under one roof, with nearly every leading company represented.”
