ICS unveils new option to Remote Director enabling color-accurate remote press checks
Press release from the issuing company
Chicago; Sept. 28, 2003 – Integrated Color Solutions (ICS), a technology leader in providing color management solutions to industries where color is critical, today introduced a new option to its award-winning Remote Director display-based contract proofing system that allows print buyers to approve a press run anywhere in the world, without leaving their desks.
The new Remote Director Press Check option, which ICS is showing here at Graph Expo in Booth #4352, features a wide format 800 dpi optical resolution scanner that, in less than four minutes, digitizes press sheets up to 27 by 38 inches and automatically transmits them over the Internet to approvers’ color-calibrated monitors in a Remote Director proofing session.
During a press check, the printer can adjust the press output to the contract proof shown on the Remote Director system monitor in a special viewing booth at press side. Once a match is achieved visually or spectrophotometrically, the printer can use the new Press Check option to scan the press sheet for remote viewing.
Press Check automatically uploads the scanned image into Remote Director, allowing the printer and approvers to review the press proof side by side against the contract proof no matter where they are located. Users of Press Check have access to all the features of the Remote Director system for viewing the file color-accurately and interacting with each other as session participants. Simple resolution and zoom-in functions let each user see screening, registration, dot structure and traps on the scanned press sheet at magnifications up to 1500 percent, the same as using a loupe at press-side.
Because Remote Director uses direct peer-to-peer communications, ink moves on press can be sent quickly to show the remotely located print buyer their requested adjustments as a side-by-side comparison with the previous sheet. Once a press sheet is approved, the Remote Director system allows secure digital sign-off of the press sheet.
