Presstek Partners with EFI to Bring Automated Workflow Solutions to Sm-Med Size Printers
Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO--Sept. 28, 2003-- Presstek, Inc., a leading provider of direct digital imaging technology, has teamed with Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, to offer EFI's Velocity OneFlow(TM) prepress workflow software with Presstek's Dimension Series Computer-to-Plate (CTP) systems. Velocity OneFlow provides custom workflow automation to streamline digital and offset printing and proofing. The bundled solution, which is now on display in Presstek's booth (#4052) at the Graph Expo show in Chicago, enables small- to mid-size printers to dramatically speed productivity, improve output quality, and increase employee efficiency.
"Our objective is to provide products and services that add value to our customer's business and EFI's Velocity OneFlow does exactly that," said David Ventola, general manager -- Off-Press Business for Presstek. "Its ease of use and automatic job processing capabilities effectively speed production by outputting more plates in less time and freeing employees to take on additional projects. It offers valuable cost savings for our Dimension platesetter customers in the 2-up to 8-up print markets."
Velocity OneFlow streamlines prepress operations by automating labor-intensive steps and eliminating opportunities for manual error. Its intuitive, icon-based interface lets users design a workflow path to automate all their prepress functions. It integrates powerful tools to automatically convert files to PDF, preflight, trap, impose, correct, RIP, soft proof and more. In addition, OneFlow seamlessly handles a variety of file formats, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher, which often require manual intervention and detailed preparation before being processed.
Fred Rosenzweig, EFI president and COO, added, "With today's emphasis on seamless workflow and enhanced productivity, Velocity OneFlow complements Presstek's leading line of Dimension platesetters. We are delighted that Presstek recognizes the unique value that Velocity OneFlow can provide and we look forward to working with them to extend this solution to their customers."
Velocity OneFlow is optimized for the Dimension Series platesetters to increase overall plate production throughput and pressroom productivity. Based on Presstek's ProFire imaging, Dimension Series chemical-free platesetters provide all the reliability, versatility, speed, and quality that printers -- especially mid-size and smaller shops -- require from their CTP investment. Productivity is improved by automating key steps and by eliminating time-consuming prepress procedures; more jobs are completed in the same amount of time.
Velocity OneFlow is available now through Presstek's distribution partners for use with the Dimension family of platesetters -- the Dimension200, a two-page system; the Dimension400 for four-page applications; and the Dimension800 for eight-page applications.
