Heidelberg focuses on Lean Manufacturing and Eco Printing at open house

Press release from the issuing company

Around 350 customers from the Asia-Pacific region took the opportunity to find out more about the portfolio of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) at the HEI LIGHTS 2010 Open House, which was recently held in Kuala Lumpur. Guests from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia, and Vietnam were introduced to the new Speedmaster CX 102 for the first time. Lying between the Speedmaster SM 102/CD 102 and Speedmaster XL 105, the Speedmaster CX 102 boasts a production speed of 16,500 sheets per hour. The new press made its debut at IPEX 2010 in Birmingham in the U.K. Heidelberg can now offer every customer the perfect press in terms of price and performance. Customer feedback in Kuala Lumpur confirms that the Speedmaster CX 102 has also come at just the right time for customers in Asia.

The two-day event focused on the presentation of a fully integrated packaging workflow, taking in everything from design to finished product. The Suprasetter platesetter, Speedmaster CX 102, Varimatrix die cutter, and Easygluer 100 folder gluer were used in an end-to-end practical demonstration to show how lean manufacturing works in practice. At the same time the latest products of the Saphira consumables and Prinect software portfolios were presented in detailed demonstrations and workshops. Especially the new Saphira Coatings range and the Prinect SignaStation - Packaging Pro software attracted keen interest from visitors.

In detailed discussions with Heidelberg experts, visitors gathered information on Saphira, Systemservice, and the training options offered by the Print Media Academy. Various workshops on topics such as "Using eco-friendly printing to cut costs", "Boosting cost-effectiveness in production", and "Routes toward certification to ISO 12647-2" were also well received.

Customers from Malaysia were particularly interested in presentations by experts from "Green Technology Malaysia (GTM)", an institute in Malaysia that supports innovative, eco-friendly initiatives and is funded by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water in Malaysia (MEGTW). A representative from financial service provider Oscar Wealth Advisory offered information on state financing opportunities for introducing green technology to customers' own companies.

Customers were unanimous in their praise for the Open House - the demonstrations, packaging workflow, the workshop on Saphira coatings, and the seminar on green printing also enjoyed a very positive reception.
