Press release from the issuing company
CHICAGO--Sept. 26, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, today announced it will introduce its next generation power-packed color server platforms along with new automated workflow and color proofing solutions at Graph Expo next week. With the impending merger of EFI and Printcafe this Fall, the two companies are also presenting a joint JDF workflow demonstration as a preview of the industry benefits of their alliance. All these solutions can be seen at the Graph Expo 2003 show from Sept. 28-Oct. 1 at McCormick Place in Chicago in booths 5030 and 5027.
"This year Graph Expo attendees will see our most compelling and cost-effective solutions for improving productivity and profitability in the commercial print market," said EFI CEO Guy Gecht. "With our fastest Fiery servers ever, integrated workflow solutions, and Best(TM) proofing innovations, we have products for the full range of this market from offset printing to digital on-demand printing to the fast-growing hybrid offset and digital printing environments. We are also showcasing a complete JDF-enabled workflow solution that demonstrates the productivity benefits of open industry standards which is resulting in some exciting new partnership announcements at the show."
Graph Expo will serve as the launching platform for EFI's most powerful color servers to date, the high-speed Fiery® S300/S500 platforms featuring a new version of the award-winning Fiery System Software. Now available for multiple OEM partner engines, the S300 is optimized for production of continuous tone color pages on a variety of mid-range color copiers, while the S500 is ideal for printing complex variable data and imposed pages at top engine-rated speeds. Additionally, the Fiery Q4500 color server, which is available for color production class engines and digital presses, will be on display driving the Xerox DocuColor iGen3(TM) Digital Production Press. With the new Fiery System 5.5 Software, the latest class of servers offers enhanced job processing and color management features for graphics arts professionals.
EFI will also showcase its full suite of Velocity(TM) workflow solutions to increase productivity from job submission to prepress to print production. Velocity Exchange(TM), the online workflow application that connects customers with print providers, will be shown with new capabilities for more efficient, automated print job ordering. New automated prepress features of Velocity OneFlow(TM), which addresses DI, CTP, ink-jet and digital printing needs under one workflow, will also be unveiled, as well as a new version of Velocity Balance(TM) software for distributed printing.
EFI's latest inkjet proofing solutions with Best technology show a range of precision solutions for commercial printers seeking both perfection and profitability. Version 5.0 of Best Colorproof(TM) and Best Screenproof(TM), and Best Designer Edition(TM) 3.0 will launch at the show.
EFI and Printcafe will co-demonstrate support for the JDF (Job Definition Format) industry standard. Both companies are actively incorporating JDF connectivity across product lines, enabling print shops to take advantage of third party applications and benefit from a complete, customized and automated workflow for greater efficiency and productivity. In the demonstration, EFI's interoperable line of Velocity workflow software, Best proofing solutions and Fiery technology along with Printcafe's Hagen OA® software will connect via JDF to form an open system for Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) that includes web job submission applications, pre-press tools, MIS software, and digital and offset presses.
EFI solutions will be demonstrated in booths #5027 and #5030.
