Agfa Brings Industry-Leading Violet Solutions To Ifra

Mortsel, Belgium – 2 September 2003 – Attendees of the IFRA Expo next month in Leipzig, Germany, will be able to see demonstrations of Agfa's industry-leading violet solutions for newspapers. Among the offerings being shown at Agfa's booth (Hall 2A, stand 305) is a new entry-level direct load violet platesetter with productivity features including slip sheet removal and system automation. "With the addition of this new platesetter, our violet CtP solutions are now also available for smaller-size newspaper operations. It joins the :Polaris X in the Agfa line of violet platesetters, giving newspaper publishers of all sizes a chance to experience the benefits of violet," said Kurt Smits, Agfa's worldwide newspaper business manager. "When our customers told us they needed solutions that gave them better quality results, lasted longer and reduced costs, our response was to provide them with what they wanted, and we deliver every day with our violet solutions." Agfa will be demonstrating and showing many of its newest technologies and solutions at the show, including: A new workflow system that simplifies the automation process for newspaper producers. The :Sherpa 44m proofer with same TIFF and same RIP software, which gives improved production proofing results. The :N91v, Agfa's new violet photopolymer plate and cleaner and longer lasting chemicals. :Intellitune 3.0, Agfa's image analysis and tuning software solution which helps newspapers save money by automatically perfecting images. :Intellitune 3.0 is PDF capable and is being shown for the first time at IFRA. Agfa's answer to Ifra's Closed Loop concept, a technology demo at Ifra last year, will now be demonstrated as a product implementation. It automatically signals whenever there is a quality deviation from any prepress component–platesetter, processor or punch and bending unit. :Sublima screening technology, which enables high line screen rulings with no extra effort on press.
