Grand Rapids, Mich. – X-Rite, Incorporated, the world leader in color management, measurement and communication technologies, today announced that it is now shipping a new enhanced version of EasyTrax, the industry's most affordable, semi-automated press-side color scanning solution. This new version now features support for Windows 7, additional functionality for customers with perfecting presses to handle up to 8 colors, support of Japan Color libraries, an enhanced Wizard-style editor interface, and a series of easy-to-follow animated tutorials.
With these new enhancements, users will be able to get up and running even faster, with everything they need at their fingertips. The unique editor interface will walk the user through every step of set-up. For customers with more advanced needs, EasyTrax now enables perfecting presses to support up to 8 ink units with the advanced ISO/G7 module, whether using a CMYK, Multi-Color or N-Color workflow.
The ISO standards and G7 Process Control module is ideal for customers who want to maximize their process control efficiency by printing to international standards. These features help process color printers work to ISO targets using specific ISO inks and paper stocks. With easy to understand measurement results graphs and reporting, the press operator can quickly see what adjustments need to be made on press to be within the targets.
With close to a hundred units sold in just 4 months, EasyTrax is rapidly gaining momentum with small to mid-size printing shops around the world. It is proving to be particularly popular with half size presses with over half of all units sold so far installed on 20"- 29" presses.
"We chose EasyTrax for its ease of use and its ability to produce accurate measurement to get us to the right color faster. Thanks to EasyTrax we can make adjustments to the press very quickly and the quality of our print runs is flawless from beginning to end. We are able to achieve our ISO 12647-2 targets much faster than ever before. Thanks to the smooth running of our workflow, we are much more confident about the consistency of our results, and every member of our team, regardless of their level of proficiency, has found the automated features well adapted to their needs," commented Claude Noblet, Production Director at Calendriers Boissier a leading French calendar printer.
"Customer feedback has been extremely positive, reports Laura Pursley, senior product manager for pressroom solutions at X-Rite. Users tell us they love the affordable pricing and rich feature set. In particular, they like the fact that they have streamlined their workflow and decreased their costs and waste by implementing a semi-automated solution whereas before they were taking manual measurements, or none at all. In addition they are able to position a color bar in the center of the sheet and use just one device for both density and spectral readings. They also like the fact that EasyTrax can connect to a large selection of third party suppliers for closed loop capabilities that further enhance the automation and consistency of the press. We are very excited about the new advanced perfecting feature and look forward to increased adoption for packaging applications," said Pursley.

EasyTrax is now available worldwide from X-Rite and its extensive network of resellers with a USMSRP starting at $10,995. Shipment of the new version will begin in May 2010.
