Agfa Appoints David Preskett Sales Manager in Europe

Mortsel, Belgium – 11 August 2003 – Agfa announced the appointment of David Preskett to sales manager for its newly formed Large-Format Digital Printing Organisation in Europe. The decision to create a dedicated sales unit for the category is the result of Agfa’s commitment to inkjet printing technology and the markets it serves. With prior responsibly as key-accounts manager for Agfa Europe, David Preskett is well positioned to lay the groundwork for the new Europe-wide organisation. During his ten years with the company, Preskett has had responsibility for Inkjet printing and digital proofing business in the U.K. “David Preskett well understands the demands of the large-format market and the requirements of this particular type of customer. He was the obvious choice to lead the sales effort,” said Richard Barham, general manager Graphic Systems, Europe. Preskett, a native of London, cites Agfa’s commitment to digital inkjet printing as a key reason for forming the new organisation. “Large-format digital printing is a growing market. Our imaging expertise and skills will allow us to bring added value to customers and help them to establish a competitive edge,” said Preskett. “Our intention is to be a dominant player in this market.” Agfa’s :Sherpa large-format inkjet printers have earned an excellent reputation as contract proofing solutions. The large-format printing version uses the same engine as the proofer, but is configured for the demands of display and poster printing. The :Sherpa LFDP system’s software RIP and colour management system, as well, have been designed specifically for printing indoor and outdoor displays, billboards and posters. The :Sherpa 50 to 84-inch systems print up to 1440 x 1440-dpi resolution. Agfa integrates the piezo inkjet printer with the Agfa edition of the Onyx Poster RIP. Agfa also offers a variety of high-quality printing media—from premium inkjet and photograde papers to vinyl and adhesive-back light-resistant materials.
