Mercury Press Installs Agfa CtP Solutions

Press release from the issuing company

Ridgefield Park, NJ -  Agfa Graphics announced today that Mercury Press of Oklahoma City, OK, increased sustainability efforts and efficiencies with the help of Agfa's :Avalon N8-50 platesetter with :Azura TS chemistry-free Thermofuse based plates. The upgrades allowed management to reassign pressroom staff to other important areas in the facility.

"With :Azura, we now have limited maintenance and clean-up, resulting in big savings. Plus, Agfa has been like an extension of Mercury. We looked at other vendors, but we consistently get the quality and support we need from Agfa, from sales to service. We are a more efficient facility now and this gave us the ability to designate personnel to other important tasks," said Bobby Bankston, Production Manager at Mercury Press.

The :Azura TS thermal plate uses a simple process via a clean-out unit (COU), making plates press-ready without chemical processing. With :Azura TS, water consumption and waste are considerably reduced. The :Avalon N8-50 thermal platesetter offers a convenient solution for the mid-size printer market.

"Mercury Press is a classic example of a mid-size printer being able to turn their plant around with the addition of an advanced CtP device and chem-free plates from Agfa Graphics. As a result, Mercury increased productivity and turnaround, reduced costs and provided a higher quality product to their customers," said Agfa's Roger Hinds, marketing manager, CtP.
