Agfa Graphics demonstrates new UV inkjet systems at SGIA 2009

Press release from the issuing company

New Orleans, LA (SGIA) - Agfa Graphics announced today that the :Anapurna M2 (squared) and the :Anapurna Mw (white), the two newest additions to Agfa's award winning :Anapurna family of UV inkjet systems are being demonstrated at the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association's (SGIA) Expo 2009 (Booth #2223).

"We are excited about SGIA 09! The evolving marketplace has led the charge for improved turnaround time, higher quality and more economical solutions. In response to this, Agfa has steadily developed and invested in our inkjet portfolio. So whether its a small sign shop that needs photo-quality signage, or high volume operation looking to do short run, POP or other specialty printing, Agfa's inkjet solutions provides the widest spectrum of capabilities, an array of new business opportunities as well as timely solutions to costly operational challenges," said Peter Wilkens, President of Agfa Graphics.

The :Anapurna family of printers currently includes the flagship :Anapurna M, :Anapurna M4f (4-color, entry model) and :Anapurna Mv (spot of varnish capability). The newest systems extend beyond traditional sign and display applications with higher speed, higher quality and at affordable investment. The all new :Anapurna M2 is designed with several automated features that increase productivity and enable the :Anapurna M2 to print at faster speeds, up to 247 ft2/ hour  This includes a powerful fastscan motor driving a shuttle with six state of the art Konica Minolta print heads at 1024 nozzles each. The system has a unique vacuum strength-control system designed for smooth substrate transport even at high speeds. Also important, shuttle safety sensors protect the print heads allowing for variable substrate height and an ionizing bar that prevents electro-static loads on the substrate, which ensures optimum ink droplet positioning for the highest print quality. The :Anapurna M2 maximum media width is 63 inches. Plus, media loading is easy as the :Anapurna M2  uses automated media registration bars and head height adjustment for both roll-to-roll and rigid media.

Concurrently, the :Anapurna Mw, another new addition to Agfa's inkjet portfolio, adds single pass pre-white and multi-pass post-white to the :Anapurna M series. This creates new possibilities for printing on transparent material and backlit applications or printing white as a spot color. The combination of photographic reproduction quality with white functionality makes the :Anapurna Mw a standout in the marketplace. In combination with the Agfa UV-curable :Anapurna ink,  Agfa's :Anapurna family of printers arehigh quality systems and sound investments.

In addition to live demonstrations of the :Anapurna systems, SGIA Expo 2009 attendees can also see applications and presentations of Agfa's new  :M-Press TIGER and the award-winning :Dotrix Modular digital presses.

The :M- Press TIGER is a high-speed flatbed inkjet printing press capable of producing large format screen printing applications with greater cost efficiency when compared to traditional screen presses. :M-Press TIGER can print 17,000 ft an hour and is the perfect solution for high volume POP providers and other traditional screen printing applications. The :M Press TIGER has an expanded  color gamut and with optional in-line traditional pre- or post screen printing stations, this press can also deliver primers, varnish, fluorescents, spot and metallic colors. There is virtually no set-up time on the :M-Press TIGER for most common screen printing applications and run-lengths.

Additionally, presentations and samples produced on Agfa's :Dotrix Modular, a high speed digital web press designed to produce POP, flexible packaging and several other industrial applications, will be on hand. With :Dotrix Modular printers are no longer required to utilize traditional printing technology to achieve the high quality their customers demand. This press can produce output on a wide variety of substrates including paper, multi-wall, biodegradable plastics, PE, PP, BOPP, PET heat and pressure sensitive materials. With its high speed, unique width of 25.6 inches and expanded color gamut there is no limitation on quality or length with :Dotrix. This press can go from roll-to-roll or roll-to-sheet. And unlike other digital presses, repeat length is indefinite with :Dotrix Modular. This provides printers with opportunities to produce highly specialized, lengthy and wide applications.
