Publishers Press to add world's first Goss Pacesetter 2200 saddlestitcher
Press release from the issuing company
February 26th, 2006 – Publishers Press will install the world’s first Goss Pacesetter 2200 saddlestitcher at its facility in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky in April. The company will also add a new Goss Universalbinder adhesive binding system.
Joe Sweeney, bindery manager at Publishers Press says high net throughput along with simplified operation and makereadies were key factors in selecting the new shaftless saddlestitching technology for short- to medium-run publication applications.
“The ability to keep the system running fast while achieving advanced product personalization will be an advantage that we can pass on to our customers,” Sweeney explains. “We have seen the new Pacesetter 2500 stitcher consistently net close to its maximum capacity of 25,000 books per hour so we are confident we will be able to do the same with the 22,000-per-hour-version.”
The new Pacesetter system at Publishers Press will feature eight horizontal hoppers and be equipped for selective binding and ink jet personalization. Goss International will also supply an FS-22 flying stitcher, HT-22 trimmer, mail table and BS60 stacker. The new Universalbinder system will be equipped with 30 RG324 hoppers to run at up to 13,500 books per hour. The installations will bring the total number of Goss finishing systems at Publishers Press to 13.
Goss International introduced the new Pacesetter 2200 and 2500 saddlestitchers in late 2006 and installed the first Pacesetter 2500 system in the fall. The systems feature servo-driven components, including newly designed hoppers that are easy to reposition within a system or among multiple systems. Both saddlestitchers are available with up to 40 horizontal or vertical hoppers, and can be equipped with a new high-speed Goss flying trimmer or Ferag SNT-U trimmer. Pacesetter 2200 systems operate with a single stitcher, while Pacesetter 2500 systems use a dual stitcher to achieve the higher output.
