CDigital invests in Xeikon technology

Press release from the issuing company

Baltimore, MD and Itasca, IL -- Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, legendary for pioneering the first digital color presses, today announced that CDigital, a leader in providing full color digital heat transfers to the product decoration industry, has made the decision to enhance their current operations by implementing new Xeikon technology.

"Our customers rely on us to provide fast turn, often next day, shipment of our Grafixx imaged film," said Paul Smith, CDigital's CEO. "Our most recent investments in the Xeikon technology will assure that we continue to meet or exceed these important service requirements."

CDigital currently uses one of the earlier generation Xeikon presses to print full color images on a polyester film, trade-named "Grafixx". The Grafixx film is shipped to customers having conventional heat transfer equipment to transfer the images from the film to the product.  Grafixx decorates flat, as well as irregular shaped and cylindrical products.

"In addition to doubling our print capacity, the latest Xeikon technology is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software. It will enable us to handle all of the current and anticipated art software used by our most creative customers with very little pre-press activity on our part," added Smith.

Smith sees opportunity in the current economy and expects to increase business throughout 2009.  CDigital's Grafixx process offers full color decoration for the same price as one, no set-up charges which encourages shorter runs, and fast turns which reduces inventory levels.

"If economical full color, short run, fast turn product decoration provides a competitive edge for our customers, we're making sure we have the capacity and redundancy to supply it on demand." concluded Smith.

According to Michael V. Ring, Vice President of Sales and Chief Marketing Officer of Xeikon's North American operations, "CDigital is a prime example of a company that truly understands the value-proposition of Xeikon's digital color technology. They have carefully chosen and developed their unique applications to leverage our technology. We are happy to be a part of their continued success."
