DAYTON, Ohio Standard Registe, a leading provider of document and print management services, announced the appointment of Joseph P. Morgan, Jr., 49, as president and chief executive officer today. He was also elected to a seat on SR's Board of Directors.

"Joe has demonstrated his leadership capabilities at SR over the years, but most importantly since he took the reigns of the company as acting CEO in September of this year," said F. David Clarke, III, Standard Register's non-executive chairman of the board.

"Joe has a healthy variety of experiences that uniquely qualify him for this role including positions in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Operations and Technology. During his seven years with SR he has run a mix of business, as well as leading significant improvements in operational excellence, customer satisfaction, productivity and profitability," said Clarke.

Prior to serving as acting CEO, Morgan was chief operating officer from April to September 2008. Previously Morgan held the role of managing Standard Register's On Demand Solutions Group, in addition to serving as chief technology officer for the company. He became CTO in 2003.

Morgan began with SR as president and chief executive officer of SMARTworks in 2001. Prior to joining SMARTworks, Morgan served as president of eflatbed.com, where he led the creation of an online logistic management product that was delivered as an application service provider (ASP) in the metals, lumber and building products industries.

Earlier in his career, Morgan served as president and chairman of the board of Sony Chemical Corporation of America, where he led the company through the start-up and development of its first integrated manufacturing operation outside of Japan. He joined Sony Chemical as VP Sales and Marketing. Morgan also served in an executive position with FLEXcon, a manufacturer of pressure-sensitive film products and labeling materials.

Morgan holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., a bachelor's in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from Clark University in Worcester.
